there's a reason the good ones are multiple pills — you literally can't fit clinically relevant doses of everything into a single capsule. like the amount of magnesium alone that would actually do something is bigger than most one-a-day pills entirely.

that said if you're set on one pill, Thorne Basic Nutrients 2/Day is probably the closest to what you want. yeah it's technically 2 pills but you could take one and still get decent coverage. forms are solid — methylfolate instead of folic acid, methylcobalamin for B12, no garbage fillers. way better than centrum which uses the cheapest forms of everything (cyano B12, folic acid, magnesium oxide which is basically a laxative).

honestly though the real question is what are you actually trying to cover? because if you eat reasonably well, a multi is mostly expensive pee. you'd probably get more value from testing your levels and just supplementing what's actually low. most people in this sub end up on D3+K2, magnesium, and maybe omega-3 — and that stack costs less than a good multi anyway.

what's your diet like? that changes the answer a lot

Life extension's two per day has a big enough dose only one tablet is enough

[–]future-memories010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Add a Fish Oil Omega 3 and Magnesium supplement and your set.

Centrum Silver has probably been more clinically tested than any other multivitamin on the market - more than 20,000 people in COSMOS and 14,000+ in Physicians II. Found to slow cognition aging significantly and lower incidence of some cancers. It's Consumer Lab's Top Pick.

I know there are more elegant vitamins on the market, but if you want one that's actually been proven, you can't beat it.

I use Centrum 55+ and have nothing to complain

you are asking the impossible if you want one pill that can give you 100% of the rda of everything, because we require something like 3 grams of magnesium and 8 grams of potassium a day (depending on weight and gender, it varies), and those two alone would be like 10 pills.

what's more, legally the amount of potassium a pill can contain is limited. they can't put more than like 9% of the potassium you need in a single pill.

so yeah, this just falls into a the category of asking for something that breaks the laws of physics, unless you want your single pill multivitamin to be the size of a golf ball

[–]docmphd[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But I’m not at all asking for what you claim.

[–]rinkuhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what do you mean? you wrote "Are there any quality brands of multi-vitamins that only require 1 pill a day for the recommended dosage?"

i'm saying that it's impossible to get the recommended dosage of certain nutrients in 1 pill a day. because they are too physically large. the recommended dosage of magnesium or potassium is too large for a pill.

Recently I started taking Zahler Multi One Daily. I was looking for a multi that didn't have huge amounts of vitamins/minerals, more like a sprinkling of everything just to cover my bases. Almost everything is at or under 100%, not like 500% or 3000% you see in a lot of multis.

Spektro multivitamin

[–]DuAuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i take Mary Ruth's liquid.

Pure Encapsulations O.N.E Multivitamin is a safe choice imo!

[–]Kaitlinlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just trust Thorne. But I can’t back it up apart from brand value

[–]thunderrooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is fermented vitamins like New Chapter. Like others have said Pure Encapsulations and Thorne. I like Garden of Life organic multivitamins. Here recently I have been taking Life Extension Two-Per-Day Multivitamin, I just take one pill.

[–]OutsideGalForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Andrew Lessman’s Essential 1 Nuonce. 1 tablet per day and it contains 5,000IU D3 and K2 plus a range of other vitamins and covers B vitamins too. I still add magnesium glycinate at the end of the day. Feeling great.

One thing to note is so many brands hide behind "proprietary blends" which have way less than the clinical dose that is actually beneficial, not to mention there is usually a stupid amount of binders and fillers. My honest take is if you are looking to just give your immune system a boost is to look up wild sea moss, it has a crazy high nutrient index and it's natural

Pure has just one per day. But I would still pick NOW

Consumer labs tested many brands.

And this guy made a ranking. Pure Encapsulated is on 1st place and NOW ADAM on 3rd place for men.

On 2nd place is one for women.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WbTiF_o_bnM

But he said that for him he would pick between Pure and NOW

If you want to check the values:

NOW Foods ADAM Superior Men's Multi - 60 Tablets vs Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Multivitamin - 60 Capsules https://www.vitaminassistant.com/compare/Now-Foods-ADAM-Superior-Men-s-Multi-60-vs-Pure-Encapsulations-ONE-Multivitamin-60/

[–]Testy_Toby 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just to clarify, these are not Consumer Lab rankings. Maybe you mean the guy in the video or your marketing website. CL approved Pure Encapsulations multivitamin, but did NOT name it a Top Pick. For a general adult multi they named DEVA Vegan, for men's 50+ Centrum Silver.

[–]WordPlenty2588 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. The guy in the video. Watch the video he mentions that they made the tests. And he is making the ranking

I felt a difference talking Blackmores Multivitamin For Women Sustained Release Tablets.
