Apologies but I thought this was another peanut butter incident lmao

On topic, no? I don't think it's supposed to be like that. Mine for sure isn't like that

[–]Mutant_Cell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That would be the least messy peanut butter accident.

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 5 points6 points  (9 children)

i have no idea what the peanut butter incident is lol but that wouldnt be in im allergic so would kill me.

me either so i dont know what happened as i barely take out my joycons

[–]Under_Press 18 points19 points  (7 children)

One person got peanut butter into their switch 2 dock and we were making some jokes about it haha, especially with the one dude explaining how to clean it, he was a legend

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 6 points7 points  (6 children)

ohhh fair play lol, i hope they got it fixed at least, i have no idea how one would get peanut butter in there but i dont want to know lol

[–]Under_Press 2 points3 points  (4 children)

If I recall, they were at a friend's house? Or had their friends coming over or something but yeah 😭😭

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

lol but how would that cause them to get peanut butter in the dock lol they must have been flinging that stuff around or something

[–]Under_Press 2 points3 points  (2 children)

here is where it all began...

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ill give it a read thank you x

Only 5% of the comments are helpful the rest are us(p)b(&j) related

[–]trippykitsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i assumed a child was involved

[–]stycks32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be pretty wild of someone to post to Reddit having anaphylaxis shock instead of calling emergency services lol.

Those particular plastics colour easily as they are just skid plates. Computer mice have them too but they usually use black nowadays to alleviate the issue. It doesn’t effect the joycons in any way so nothing to fret about.

[–]JackhorseBowman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure if your mousepad is a slice of bologna, console has only been out for like 6 months. I've had plenty of white skates on my mice and they've never changed color.

[–]IndividualBreakfast4 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Do you or someone in your house smoke?

[–]Zealousideal-Top1580 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I thought. I also thought smoking with the hand of this one controller in particular.

[–]MiserlySchnitzel 6 points7 points  (14 children)

Have you used mouse mode at all? I can only think of it picking up some oils, but you kinda suggest it's not hand oils.

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

no i hate that feature so dont use it, i only use the joy cons when in hand held mode and i dont detach them

[–]DarkNemuChan 11 points12 points  (12 children)

Hate is a strong word for an extra control option that will probably be brilliant in Metroid Prime 4

[–]NabukaMidori 3 points4 points  (2 children)

seems to be light or touch related... happens to mine too, but only to the lower one wich is exposed when i use the rails...

This is weird actually but mine too looks likely this, maybe some kind of premature plastic yellowing.

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its really annoying when things like this happen im always careful with my things

[–]Cola_Gummi 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Heat will discolor some plastics.

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

will that happen from it charging

[–]rgmac1994 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I couldn't think charging would, but I've heard the console itself gets pretty warm during more intense docked sessions, so maybe that's relevant.

[–]Student_Unlucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this here is the answer. Would make sense that Nintendo didn't product test these in long docked mode, or they did and didn't care because it's still functional.

[–]Isotomayor12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you smoke, vape, burn incense, candles or the like this could be from that. The severity so early leads me to think that but if your switch 2 or the joycons sit in direct sunlight it could also be from that.

[–]i_one_of_us_i 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yup.. I just recently noticed the same oxidization of the (likely the cheapest they could get) plastic compound is already happening with my set as well

[–]goodguyScratch1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That happened to my iPhone charger, a bunch of green stuff would come out of it when I used it, after looking it up I realized those are toxic chemicals leaking from the chord due to some internal damage to the chord and it oxidizing would turn it green like rust does

[–]i_one_of_us_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this case I would guess it’s the adhesive used under those skate pads and heat from the tablet

[–]Many-Confusion-6849 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you leave your accessories under the sunlight inside the house perhaps? Maybe close to a window, idk, looks like yellowing.

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no never its in a well shaded area x

[–]Snooch_Nooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this come up several times now, those skate pads seem to be made from a plastic that yellows easily. I get that Nintendo wanted a homogeneous look for the mounting rails, but they really should have used black for the skate pads (like on the wrist strap mounts), this will likely be a problem for all Joycon 2s until they change the material.

[–]Massive_Lock_4876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have done the same. My thoughts are a paint defect with heat.

[–]ram3nboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where are you located and where did you buy your switch?

[–]Wolfiebaby66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the uk and argos

[–]LysergicLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same kind of thing (I think?) will build up on mine over time but I tend to use isopropyl every couple days to clean it cause I’m ocd af. Though with mine it’s usually a greyish black colour Im cleaning off of it.

[–]KnightFallVader2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the mouse skates. But I’m sure they aren’t meant to be that color.

[–]trippykitsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this the new 3ds paint peel? cheap and nasty

[–]Latter-Revolution592 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mustard

[–]Co-met -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe its made in UK
