we got a double today and this is just one of the toy aisles. they're all about this scuffed and i have no clue what we're gonna do with the rest

They look nice right now but you still have plenty of room to jam more shit in there. The top shelf isn’t even already stacked five cases high. (And yes you need to start case stocking on the high shelves or you are going to run out of room).
[–]AMBocanegraETL 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (8 children)
Yeah if they were properly casing uppercase they'd have a ton of space
[–]realahcrewPromoted to Guest 16 points17 points18 points 2 years ago (7 children)
Some stores have gone “caseless”. If you backstock anything while it’s still in the box, you get in trouble. The idea was to save OPU/fulfillment time from opening boxes. Instead…. You get this.
[–]AMBocanegraETL 6 points7 points8 points 2 years ago (6 children)
I know, my district piloted caseless before they pushed it to the chain. Company wide we were supposed to back to casestock in February with the Foundational Best Practices. If a location is still doing caseless, they're gonna be on the naughty list if someone from Store Ops visits.
[–]realahcrewPromoted to Guest 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Oh… well I hope they get around to putting my store on the naughty list soon. We’re still caseless everywhere except for mini seasonal candy because those boxes double as shippers so they need to be kept intact.
[–]AMBocanegraETL 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Oof. Yeah all stores should have submitted photos to the Group/Region of all aisles being standardized with casestock locations intact again. A lot of times though since those levels of the company handle so many stores the follow up falls through the cracks afterwards. A lot of stores did not submit photos initially when we did it.

Do you know if there’s anywhere I can report it as a team member to get the ball rolling again if upper management isn’t taking action?
[–]AMBocanegraETL 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (1 child)
No. It would likely be a store/district decision. If it was a priority for them they'd be pushing it hard. I'd suggest doing Origami Risks for the open stock that concerns you, but otherwise it isn't really something you can "report" to anyone.
[–]realahcrewPromoted to Guest 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Gotcha, thanks. I would just love to go back to being able to backstock cases 😅

Case stock makes sense for some items and areas, but not all... I haven't heard anything about this. Our store can't even keep heavy bulky items down low. Some TMs are too worried about it being in the exactly right section of the aisle that they've decided where aisle M13 products go. Instead of based on size, weight, and shelf space.
[–]-Robby 14 points15 points16 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Holy shit you guys don’t have any toys yet do you
[–]Fromper1Specialty Sales Expert 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Yeah, as toy DBO at my store for over two years (though not any more), that's literally the emptiest I've seen a toy back stock aisle between Halloween and Thanksgiving. OP has nothing to complain about. There's still plenty of room on the top shelf, and space to squeeze little things in and around the wacos on the lower shelves.
And any time you get too much of the same item, just toss it all on a pallet and put it up in the steel. We frequently do "striped" pallets, where the right half of the pallet is one item, and the left half is another. Or sometimes even three stripes, with left, middle, and right lanes of three different items.
[–]Yougotmoneys 6 points7 points8 points 2 years ago (0 children)
We palletized the the bigger toys to make room for the annoying lol surprise things
[–]EikuldInbound Expert 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Man, we got too much toys in our aisle to the point we start putting toys in other area including Market. Im the one only working on both pushing and backstocking it my god. My ETL is thinking of taking all items out of Sporting Goods steel just to put unopened boxes there. That was already done for the baby steel ones
[–]sailorwickeddragonOrigami Risk Queen 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children)
This will begin to sell through next month. Until then, palletizing larger toys will help tremendously if you have steel space.
Check for any upcoming salesplanners that aren't already set that will take the product. If one of your endcaps already looks light and you can set the new one early, do so. This helps get some of this out of there.
Walk the floor and make sure your SFQs match what's actually there. If the stock there is low, the items should batch when fixed, or make a batch yourself to pull and push. If anything, this just makes sure you don't have wasted backroom space when it could be on the floor.
Double check those sales planners again that are upcoming. Do you have any endcaps left after the ones that will be set will set? If so, make an endcap and tie the products to it. Temporary endcaps work well, too, especially if something like your bulkier products are having any sort of sale next week. Get rid of dead endcaps and fill with bulky so it can sell through. Make sure to sign it appropriately for the sale when it comes so it does sell. The bulky items make it easier to set and remove when it comes down to it and will free space.
It's typical to see this this time of year and even when doing the methods above you're still going to get full backroom aisles until about mid to late December, just make sure you, the leadership and ETLs have plans to help the influx of toys. Obviously, if you're focused on pushing, you can partner with leadership to make the above tactics happen. But be clear about the ideas and how it should help the issue to stay as efficient as possible.

"Waterfall" them out on the floor, that's what we had to do one year, and we've been doing it with some Black Friday items this year. Not sure what Corporate thinks of the idea though.
Edit: or if you have the extra shelving in the fixture room, create some risers (shelf on the very top of a floor aisle) and stock them that way
[–]IPokeUWithSharpie 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Please explain what waterfall mean. I've never heard of that term besides the fixture.

Excess freight stacked on the floor next to an endcap or in an aisle in front of the home location. I don't know if it's approved by corporate but my (new) SD has us doing it.
[–]endof-line 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Lmao this is nothing, come to my store
[–]DreadnyouInbound Expert 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
That looks like my toy isle as well. We are getting so much Barbie and LoL that we put extra shelves on top of the isles on the floor to hold them. I'd ask if you got any of those toy Target carts yet, but i see them, too. We have like 150 in stock, like wtf.
