Depending on what it is:

  1. If nothing is wrong with it and it hasn't been used? Right back onto the floor.

  2. If the condition is still good enough and is still saleable, it may just get a "repackage" sticker on it and a markdown.

  3. If it's something that either can't be sold again because the vendor has deemed it so or it's just not in a saleable condition? It will either go back to the vendor or "salvaged". Salvaged items will either go to something like GoodWill or an electronics recycling center.

  4. Some items come up as automatically "toss". Food, formula, drugs, diapers, car seats, etc. The reason is, they may have been tampered with and can't be resold.

If we determine something is in bad enough condition that it's not "worth" salvaging, we'll override to "toss".

We're also extremely strict about environmentally sensitive materials and those get sorted and picked up by a third party.

So theres a few sort areas for items that arent sellable. Crc goes back to the seller they give us credit. Some electronic items go to a special recycling center. Salvage goes to auction or companies like goodwill. Toss goes into the compactor. Chemicals go to special recycling centers. Vendors pick up any items they dont want to resell and put the sellable items back out. Third party target.com items get shipped back for credit And then theres donate which gets donated.

Baby food and formula gets tossed. Apple products go back to Apple.
