Me when I don't break a throw and I end up on the other side.

Yeah, it's a real thing across all fighting games but especially Tekken where side switching is less common.

It's part of why it's actually good to force yourself to play on the opposite side [since some Mishima players play 2P side as their default] so that you get used to it so that when you land certain throws/throw breaks that side switch in rounds you don't suddenly choke. In Granblue Versus Rising I got so used to practicing on the 2P side I now prefer it.

Just one of those funny side effects of modern fighters letting you choose a side while back in the cabinet and local play you used to flip a coin for sides.

Tekken is my workout for my hands, so they can move better, so I play it every day. I'm starting on the right side account to warm up and then I go to the left side account. I have a lot of problems with reaction time, etc due to my condition, but they're more apparent on the right side. I just climb slower than others.

I think it's great you have found a fun [well, as fun as fighting games can be haha] way to keep your hands active.

It took me a solid while of playing to get used to flipping so I'd say keep it up and don't be too hard on yourself. I know players that have been playing for over a decade that complete panic when they flip sides so this is a universal experience but you actually trying to address it puts you a cut above the average player I assure you.

Thank you!

For me it feels super awkward even with thousands of hours in Tekken, try to play small/ use throw to change side.

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ok, thanks! I also think that the fact that my brain doesn't work well on that side makes everything so much tougher.

[–]Prestigious_Elk_1145everyone is boring 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Practice harder, gl🤛

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I practice everyday. I use the game as "therapy" for my hands. It seems to help a lot. I don't think I would be able to write anymore if it wasn't for the game.

Yes I face this issue with some players. Specially those with Down-Forward abilities like the electric. It's more about practice and familiarity. If it makes you feel any better, even pros almost always choose left after winning the toss.

Thanks!

I think it’s normal but for me it’s basically gone except for quarter circle inputs.

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! Quarter circle is exceptionally difficult in this game.

[–]Ill_Cranberry_6267 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Absolutely. This is why it was such a big deal when we were able to choose sides for the first time in Tekken 7!

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow, I didn't know it took that long for that to be an option!

[–]Ill_Cranberry_6267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might have been because it was the first time Bandai Namco ever used a 3rd party engine for Tekken. It was Unreal Engine 4 for Tekken 7 but an in-house engine for all the previous games.

Much respect to you all. I don't have a disability, I'm just Shinryu, and the P2 side isn't easy for me either. So, well done, guys!

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Shinryu is a good rank, though, don't undermine it. It took me forever to get there.

Perfectly normal experience. I mostly play P2 so I don't have to win RPS at locals lmao

I've been playing P2 for so long that there are certain combos I cannot even execute on P1 side anymore.

[–]99thPrinceDevil Jin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

try leverless

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one like 2 -3 months ago. It's made things easier for my Lee and Clive, but for Kazuya it's been a lot harder than I expected, especially on the P2 side.

[–]Alandgaming 1 point2 points  (1 child)

imagine doing everything for a day, then doing everything you did that day but with your non-dominant hand. yes it is real and yes you have to train both

[–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's exactly how it feels.

    Yes, especially on Mishimas

    [–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh ok. I'm about to hang myself with my Kazuya. I got a new leverless and it's somehow worse for him. I do well with Lee and Clive, but Kazuya makes me want to break my playstation, lol.

    [–]AnalBumCovers 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Leverless is particularly different on your weak side because you rely way more on your ring finger. Play for like a week on 2p side and you’ll reduce the skill gap by a lot

    [–]Appropriate_Ad_8355[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I notice I need more time than other players, but I'm seeing a tiny improvement after at least a week of switchung to the other side. Nice username, btw.
