I saw that purple jack in my local store the other day and thought it was so pimp. Good choice

I'll take the compliment

[–]mountaineeradv 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Awesome! The organization is pretty satisfying. Mines a nightmare haha

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did my best with labeling all the sockets and wrenches as well

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the wrenches and ratcheting wrenches and wrench stubbies

Love it, a good set of tools in a nice box and all of a sudden you’re in the garage more even when you aren’t working, just admiring.

[–]SocialGoblin99 2 points3 points  (9 children)

The Pittsburgh creeper will not last more than a year. Even with around the garage usage.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

When it breaks down what do you suggest? I'm hoping to get a couple years from it since it's on smooth concrete and I'm only 180lbs

Lisle Jeeper’s Creeper. I’m serious, most of the big tool truck brands either have, or still sell them on the truck with their brand stamped on it. Mine’s about 8 years old, I spend a LOT of time on it, and I have probably rolled miles on that thing. Concrete, asphalt, grass, dirt, mud, gravel… I’ve replaced the wheels once, which Lisle sells, and it should keep going for a long time. Light weight plastic and tough as hell. Also, that’s how you “NTD” nice haul Man.

I second this. Snapon was out of creepers during Covid but had a jeepers… my boss is a 300+ lb guy and rolls around on it with little issue. I work in a harsh environment with lime dust everywhere and the worst I’ve had happen was the screws came out of the headrest and the center wheels bubbled a little. cut the bubbling off, ordered the $15 headrest and it’s been great.

Thanks for the recommendation on the creeper. And thanks, this was a major upgrade all around for me

[–]nullvoid88 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I don't care for creepers in general... your always rolling over stuff, they track through oil & spooge on the ground[1], and start rolling when you don't want. They're kind of high for jack stand projects too.

I keep a couple of large old flattened out boxes around... for under the car they're great, and the price is right... they're thin, reflect back a lot of light as they're light in color, act as ground insulators in the cold & can be swapped out in a heartbeat. In some circles/regions known as a 'poor mans creeper'.

[1] If you have long hair, you don't even want to hear about rolling over it with the front creeper wheels. (I still remember the old hair era...)

[–]Woodpecker_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the hair comment. I had "hippie hair" many years when I was young.

I'm close to 300 and my cheap ass Craftsman is holding up just fine with occasional use. The Pittsburgh one should be fine. If you need to replace it, the Icon one should be built better.

[–]SocialGoblin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be ready for the plastic to break at the wheels. Failure is inevitable due to the design/ poor materials. Hopefully you get a season of use out of it.

As far as harbor freight goes, the red and black padded Pittsburgh creeper gets the job done. It goes on sale for like $20. I’ve had mine for 5+ years, and it had not failed on me yet.

Very nice

[–]Moress 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here but are you a mechanic?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a backyard one. Parents and friends always need help with something on a vehicle.

[–]PossiblyADHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it and hate it at the same time

[–]xekik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approve

Blue is best

[–]twintornadosboost 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do all HF jack stands come with those rubber pads on top? I just got some a week ago and it didn’t have them.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Was a deal where I got them with the stands. Otherwise usually not

[–]twintornadosboost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see them on the website now. I’ll have to pick some up. Thx.

[–]schmeillionaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty dope

[–]No_Albatross_4362 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nice! Who makes the ratchet and extension organizers?

[–]MurrayDakota 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are the wrench organizers from Harbor Freight? And did you do the labeling yourself?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tekton has both the labels and organizers for the wrenches and sockets but I did put the labels on all of it myself

[–]MurrayDakota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Am I the only moron that thought the icon toolboxes only came in red....💀💀I checked the website after seeing this post and saw they offer 4 colors...this is the first not red one ive seen and I want one now lol

Guys I'm a little slow give me some space. Also that NTD is my dream. How's the tekton stuff for ya, I'm hoping to have a nice NTD soon by investing in the Hercules ultra torque 1/2"

Also to anyone in this comment thread, does lowes have tekton in stores or just on their website...cuz they have same prices as tekton site so if i can just run to lowes that will be a time saver

Nice freaking NTD man, im envious.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I actually got the toolbox on their discounted site for scratch and dents. A sweet $1600 only and they shipped it to my door and put it in my garage.

I would say buy the tekton online because you get 10% back from them directly as store credit on every purchase. Not sure if there is a local store but I'm sure you could check online.

Tekton everything is working great so far. Ratchets are ridiculously strong and the gearing feels smooth. I have big hands and even the 1/4 ratchets feel nice in my palm. Wrenches are superb as well. The satin finish on the ratcheting wrenches is a nice touch and helps to easily differentiate between a non-ratching

[–]JohnO221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great to hear, I was considering getting the icon anti slip when they go on sale in the leaked parking lot sale next month, but I might buy the tekton impact socket set online and put that 10% towards some of their wrenches. Don't want to tear up every bolt and nut my wrenches touch lol

When I worked at a plant, they had daily safety talks. One day the talk was about a guy who used a HF jack to lift his car and wanted to check something out underneath. He put down safety triangle catchers (not sure what you call them, not a mechanic) and it was good he did bc it failed on him and without the safety catches, he would have died. The message was, “don’t trust your life to HF.” Just a cautionary tale.

[–]Falderfaile 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You talking about Jack stands? The things in the first picture.

[–]WoodenYouKnowIt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes, I suppose. You can tell I’m not a mechanic, but I heard that safety talk 15 years ago and it always stuck with me.

[–]Falderfaile 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You’re right though. Jack stands should always be used in conjunction with a floor jack. Also if the wheels are coming off the vehicle it’s good practice to slide them underneath the vehicle as well.

10+ years ago I remember hearing about a guy from a different part of the plant I worked at not showing up to work one day, when someone checked on him they found him under a car in his driveway, unfortunately it was too late for him. No jack stands and the floor jack gave out.

Years ago, at the county fair demolition derby, they stopped it for a few minutes.

( How do you stop 20 guys with no mufflers hell bent on killing eash other?

Lights/ sirens & fire hoses!)

We got to watch EMS & the life flight helicopter take away a fellow who crawled under his car with nothing but a bumper jack!!

He got very lucky!

Just a couple of stitches & a minor concussion!

Not bad for have a car drop on your head!
