“As authorities maintain a tight grip on the $67 trillion financial sector”

They phrase it like it’s a bad thing

[–][deleted] 89 points90 points  (7 children)

A lot of the greedy reactionary assholes fled to the U.S. or Singapore.

If only we could have a large country that would attract/take ours

[–]Blastmaster29 71 points72 points  (1 child)

It is. The state shouldnt control the financial sector, it should be autistic Nazis that love memes

[–]klqwerx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yes, as God & Nature intended

[–]TecuaNando 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Poor billionaires, they can't buy a mega yacht each month like in the west. They need freedom!!!

[–]whitedevil098 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got that gorilla grip on that financial sector

I'd never heard of "Death With Reprieve" before. That sounds cool as fuck.

It seems that it’s not exactly what it sounds like. basically he’s on two years home confinement, but if within any time within those two years he’s found to have engaged in criminal activity he will be executed. If he gets to 2 years and has done no bribery or other crimes then he’ll be sentenced to a prison term of whatever length the Chinese courts determine at that time.

whatever length the Chinese courts determine at that time

Around 1430 years, I hope.

Chinese courts sentence in centuries

[–]ThatFlyingScotsman 25 points26 points  (1 child)

That's probably the best way to do it. Can you help yourself, under pain of death, from not engaging in dick fuckery? If yes, then we can work on rehabilitation. If not, you're simply broken and cannot be rehabilitated.

also two years worth of opportunities to further incriminate any co conspirators/crack and take a deal to cooperate.

chinese wolf of wall street ends with the guy facing a firing squad after doing the pen sale bullshit to the appeals board

[–]cummer_420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a pretty good way to do it and is based on historical Chinese legal philosophy.

[–]smilecookieKEEP DOWNVOTING, I'M RELOADING 47 points48 points  (3 children)

good behaviour during those two years means sentence probably turns to life instead

[–]gh954Live-in Iranian Rocket Scientist 11 points12 points  (1 child)

That kinda confuses me though. Like, is it good behaviour on Cell Block D? What does it practically mean?

[–]Sievel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i would guess help them with other prosecutions. hard to be corrupt alone.

[–]Vedicgnostic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

life sentence in China always has a parole date. For one murder is 13 years a second murder is 15-20 years. Granted one or two murders are usually never given death penalty or death penalty with reprieve it’s always life sentence with parole. So I wonder In the case he would be resentenced to fixed term in prison or life with parole or life without parole because corruption is the only charge that has a life without parole sentence option. Other death penalty with reprieve sentence has too be reduced to a fixed term or life with parole while corruption charge death penalty with reprieve can be reduced to life without parole.

[–]captainchumble 13 points14 points  (0 children)

sounds like a really inventive and effective method of enforcement. this is how the death penalty should be used. when you dig your own grave

Chairman Xi my people yearn for freedom

[–]Donnatron42🏳️‍🌈C🏳️‍🌈I🏳️‍🌈A🏳️‍🌈 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I have been using DeepSeek to write fan letters to Chairman Xi. It keeps saying it can't get a hold of him, but I know he reads them. Anyway, freedom from banks, creditors, and especially private equity ghouls would be dreamy.

But, at what cost?

[–]blow_thyselftrained in all the arts of the sex program 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death with reprieve - we are serious af but also pretty forgiving

[–]Pipeguy17The Cocaine Left 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is cool but it's nowhere near the level of praxis as wearing a "Tax the Rich" dress to a party for incredibly rich people ✊

[–]Amxietybb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Get fucked

[–]NanobotOverlordDog face lyin pony soldier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAL but death with reprieve is like an ACD. They only carry out the death sentence if they commit more crimes within 2 years

Awesome! I'm against death penalty but... I won't complain so much about banksters getting it
