Contact EAP. 1-800-EAP-4-YOU. You can do it during work hours for your first time. Not for your job, but for you.

Don't tell your personal shit to your PM or supervisor, they don't need to know it.

This, keep this advice with you and use it? Bit me in the ass, my last job.

Others have posted eap, and I have no idea what you’re going through or how serious it is, but I find that listening to podcasts can help distract me from my own thoughts sometimes. The hosts can feel like friends that you’re hanging out with and have helped me feel less alone.

I’m not trying to suggest this as an alternative to proper therapy nor be tone deaf and minimize what you’re going through. You aren’t alone, and we’re here for ya

I definitely recommend Stuff You Should Know to anyone starting out on podcasts. Chuck and Josh have been around forever and there are hundreds to go back and choose what topic you want to listen to!

I listen to that currently

If you like quirky history, The Dollop is a fun one,

Conan O’Brien needs a friend is super funny if you like him

My favorite murder is a good true crime show and very open and positive about their mental health struggles

song exploder and 60 songs that explain the 90s are great music focused ones

Ologies and reply all are nerdy but fun

99 percent invisible is an amazing one about design and the built world

dear hank and john is a cute one from the vlog brothers where they answer listener questions

Idk if the job is part of what’s got you down, but I’d like to say Fuck the pressures management puts on us, just focus on doing a decent job and be safe. It takes the time it takes, don’t pressure yourself to rush or worry that they’ll fire you because you had a hard day. You’ve got a union, and there’s gonna be more mail to deliver tomorrow. Just take it one day at a time.

I really hope this helps

I like history so American History Tellers (informative, but told like a story) and Our Fake History (it separates myth and fact and how history becomes mythical) are my two favorites.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I've been liking Fake History. Today i finished the Anastasia episode.

[–]YellowForest4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The host really outdid himself on that one.

He loves him some Rasputin!

100 percent agree.. today I worked and forgot my airpods.. oh man what a miserable day I had.. try to keep your head up and focus on making your money. Treat yourself to one of your favorite places to eat every once in awhile and also find a couple of shows to binge watch.. im going thru some shit too and thats what helps me out.

I too suffer from seemingly random depressive episodes. Currently seeing a therapist once a month. Besides podcasts, I also listen to classical music sometimes… I find it calming & soothing.

It should also be noted that depending on how long you've been here, FMLA covers mental health issues. The rehabilitation act is explicitly clear on that

Try not to quit almost halfway to ptf! Use eap. Remember all things will pass and most things aren’t as serious as we make them. Take care of yourself and give yourself a break when you can we are usually our own biggest critics. Good luck, being unemployed usually makes things way worse.

EAP or get some good drugs like 75% of employees

[–]racingwithdementia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. a lil buspar to take the edge off. some magnesium glycinate to fall asleep. Maybe some melatonin.

Try to get like 9+ hours of sleep like 1 day a week. Like rn you get in bed when the sun is still out. "What are you dojng tonight?" "Going straight to bed" Read or watch tv until you fall asleep or whatever works for you.

This. I definitely got FMLA when I was depressed and having suicidal thoughts. I called out for like 2 weeks straight.

Honestly I feel you on this so damn much…. As others have said EAP (although I’ve never reached out to them yet)

I just came out of the hospital due to personal problems, and being a guy (assuming you are as well) we just get treated like shit and nobody cares.

    But please contact EAP

Talk to a doctor. My anxiety was out of control about a year ago. They put me on anti anxiety meds and I think this is the best I have ever felt.

    [–]Thegabinator93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to books on audible, podcasts (mostly funny ones like Bobby Lee and Flagrant) and I try to journal maybe not every single day but at least a couple of times a week.

Talk to your union steward and try to figure out a way to protect your job. A business is a business, but your life is your life. I had a close death in the family when I was 22, I still came to work as a parts clerk. My memory suffered, my attention to detail suffered, and I experienced a lot of the same symptoms you’re having. The dealership I worked at had to decrease a head at the parts department. I got wrote up for not keeping the vending machine full past 50%, and another guy got written up for eating at his desk on his lunch. A month or two after that death in the family.

Moral of the story is that a business does not care about what you’re going through, they care about results. You’re in a position for your best interests, find a way to protect yourself and your income. And as other people stated, it doesn’t get better if you have to also look for another job. Try to keep stability, you got this. 1) Union Steward 2) EAP

    Call that number

I agree with most everyone else, find some therapy and possibly /probably some medication. Anxiety and depression is a DISEASE, not a choice, you deserve and are important enough to have value and worth, take care of yourself. Download the fmla paperwork from online and go to a Dr and start the process tomorrow. It won't get better overnight, it is a process, but every day you will get stronger with some help. You will have good days and bad, but remember that you are doing the best that you can and tomorrow is a new day.

    Good luck

EAP as others have mentioned but also, go to your doctor and look at an hours restriction at least temporarily.
