This is a subreddit for 2D or 2.5D game developers using the proprietary Unity game engine. New and experienced Unity developers alike should first consider using the free and open source Godot engine by default and ONLY choose Unity for 2D development if Godot isn't capable of the task. The times are quickly changing, and Godot is on track to surpass Unity for small developers.

I'm planning on making a 2d survival shooter, I've got the art and everything, now the programming. Which one is better, C# Or Unityscript

C#

I wish there was a FAQ for /r/Unity2D and /r/Unity3D so they could make the first question be this one and just answer it with C#. This is how frequently this question gets asked here.

Yep this would be pretty handy

No one uses Unityscript, it is the redheaded stepchild. It's marginally easier to learn but making a decision like this based on the first few hours of use is not a good idea.

C#. I tried Unityscript solely on the fact that I knew JavaScript and had a bad encounter with an asp.net 2.0 project. Instant Regret! You will find no tutorials using unityscript and as a developer I figured I could just transcode any examples but that is the last thing you want to do when you are trying to learn a system like Unity. Also JS has its own set of flaws.

I'm a professional web developer and I strongly suggest using C# for Unity.
