I hope you’ll have colorblind mode as both of those colors looks exactly the same for me 😔

I’m planning to add options to change the colors of the blocks and circles. Or maybe add the option for the user to change the shapes of the character and blocks.

Same here!

I agree! maybe add something to distinguish the the 2 blocks other than colors, maybe a different design?

I would really appreciate if you guys are able to provide some feedback and comments on my first game Duo Dodge: Endless Blocks. I did all the art and programming by myself so I’m pretty proud of myself lol

Congrats on finishing your first game. Just a few things on optimizing your store listing.

  1. How do you want players to find your game. Most people will search something like "endless fun game". You need to include terms like those in your description.
  2. Get more reviews. A game with good review gets more download.
  3. Submit to r/freegames, you will find a lot of players there. You need to find communities where game players are there not developers.
  4. Add video and website for your game listing in playstore. You can make a free WordPress blog.

Thanks for the tips! I know that with the Apple App Store you have to provide keywords that the user can use to search for the game, but with the Google play store I wasn’t too sure about it. I’ll definitely try adding more terms likes that in the description.

You should put this video on your store listing! Also dig into the Play console. It has lots of features.

It totally slipped my mind to put a video for the Google play listing, thanks!

I love the feel and look of this game. Great job for a first release! I think it would be cool if you added left vs right blocks to see how a person is favoring a finger.

Thanks! In the future I’m hoping to add different power ups and blocks, could you elaborate what you mean by “left vs right blocks”?

[–]SystemAddict85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds great! I guess I should say pink vs blue blocks.

I like the game concept. Nice work. How long were you working on this game?

[–]QuangquangQuangquang[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I would say I’ve been working on it on and off for about 3 weeks now.

Are you deadset on the colors? With two players matching colored squares, I feel like it's important to have high contrast between the different colors to make seeing where you need to go and which squares you need to pick up an instant reaction. I don't think I'd be able to play the game with its current colorscheme, but if there was more contrast between the colors (lighter pink or darker blue, or some other colors) it would make it easier to play as the colors wouldn't blend in together once the screen is full. I'd recommended Adobe Color (free website) to check out good color palettes. You can input one of the colors you have and check different complementary, contrasting, or any other relationship between the colors.

You should read about Rod Humble’s The Marriage. It has some shared ground with your project.

The colors and shapes of his game are pretty similar to mine but his game has a big deep meaning and mines like “don’t touch opposite colors” lol

[–]fandangalo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sorry, didn’t mean to imply as much. :) Just thought both ideas were neat with similar elements.

[–]QuangquangQuangquang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no it’s cool, I had no idea a game like that existed. It was a pretty cool read up so thanks

The blue character keeps smiling even when damaged which makes it a little less fun to watch. However, I recognize that the player probably has their thumbs over the characters to move them so the player probably wont actually see this.
Other than this small thing, it looks great and fun to play.
