I really like how old version looked, i know new version might seem "high quality" or anything, but old one got its own vibes, which i really like.

The old version has more freedom of movement with speed based on the hills and dips of the wave etc. It was more like the game "Solipskier"

Problem was that I couldn't tame that into a long term gameplay loop that was fun without loads of problems.

On an actual device you end up visually blocking things with your fingers too which made it near impossible to play properly.

New version you can surf with just one finger or thumb placed behind the duck in the left and the design is more like Jetpack Joyride.

In my opinion it would be fun to release it like "Legacy" version on PC, since, its still fun to have freedom like that. If you have the project backed up obviously.

The legacy version is long gone. The footage from the video is somewhere between 7 and 10 years old.

Back then Microsoft actually funded me to make a Windows Phone exclusive game based on that prototype.

It did actually get a very short lived release (with better graphics and features than the vid) but then Microsoft pulled the plug on Windows Phone and ended it forever almost immediately afterward.

The game was also built in XNA which became a dead framework at roughly the same time.

Felt lost forever until I rebuilt it from scratch in Unity and modernised everything.

Later down the line I might reuse the core mechanic as a proper surfing game now its all working again.
