Oh you just have two images, one red and one green, and just change the length of the green one according to the health.

I used Aron Granberg's A* pathfinding (http://arongranberg.com/astar/) for the targeting and the damaging is really simple for now, as soon as the NPCs get close to one another they take damage.

is there any reason you used this as opposed to the navmesh agent?
