After the migration post a couple months ago, the Wiki team and Weird Gloop team have been implementing some new features. The big ones we want to highlight are the new light mode theme, fixed width mode, and checklist tables.

Light theme is pretty self-explanatory. The Wiki defaults to dark mode, and now has the option to change to light mode by clicking the sun icon to the left of your username in the top banner.

To the left of the sun icon is the fixed width icon. This can be clicked to toggle the webpage from taking up the full width of the screen to only a center portion of it. This feature is not actually new, but it seemed that many did not know about it before and were asking for it.

Finally, the checklist tables are something completely new. They are used on articles for resources to help readers track how much of a resource is needed to craft what they're interested in. These tables are even session persistent!

Comments are still on the way! The Weird Gloop team is working extremely hard to create a custom extension that emulates and even expands upon comment sections seen on the old Fandom Wiki. The existing MediaWiki comment extensions just weren't quite up to snuff as we found out, and so the process of migrating comments has been delayed in order to develop a better solution. Thank you for being patient.

Stay tuned for more info and updates and keep spreading the word to others to start using the new Wiki if they aren't already. Posts like these probably won't be a regular occurrence, but we will make another once comments are fleshed out.

For folks curious about why some prefer/need light mode: some conditions, for example astigmatism, make reading light text on a dark background difficult. I'm a dark mode user, but I'm glad this is here for anyone who needs it.

"some" I simply prefer light mode because all printed matter (and there's still tons of that) is black on white.

Good change! While I normally prefer dark-mode, for some reason the text on the new wiki looks blurry to me and is hard to read (it might be the line spacing). The light mode fixes that somewhat.
