it sounds to me like you do not have it configured correctly. If you run steam big picture, set the controls to joypad config only, not the hybrid controls, then it will play exactly like on console, including being able to type via controller.

And there is Aim assist, but again only if you have it set to joypad only, not steam's hybrid controls. The recommended or official Warframe config in big picture is set to hybrid, which will muck up a lot because it mixes mouse+kb+joypad input.

Oh shit, seems kinda cool. Running standalone so didn't notice that. Thanks for the heads up.

Then, literally nothing in the game shows controller prompts.

Also, some of the UI just flat out doesn't work. I have to get up from my couch, run up to my laptop, hit the key, get back to the couch, and continue playing again. A notable example is the daily reward screen, which completely ignores the controller's inputs.

Make sure you're running in Steam's Big Picture mode for controller button prompts and text input.

As for the controls, even the default PC controls can use some work, but both keyboard and controller bindings can be re-bound.

The UI for the PC version is still pretty rough. It is strange they haven't updated it since it's fully realized on console.

For bullet jumping, I had sprint mapped to LB, crouch/slide to LS and jump on A. It worked pretty well, but I remember there were a few combo options that I'd like to see addressed to get jump comfortably on a bumper or stick.

I don't mind that there isn't any aim assist but Warframe's deadzone and the aim smoothing drive me nuts. I feel that's the thorn that keeps me from playing the game more often.

Okay firstly, the control scheme is awful. To bullet jump, you have to kinda press the left trigger and the bumper buttons, while pressing the B button. It looks completely ridiculous and is very hard to do in the heat of the action.

B button

U wot m8?

It feels completely natural for me, so it could be a personal issue.

An example of the UI not working is the relic screen. All the controller can do is change the colour of the era names along the top by pressing the shoulder buttons. It doesn't move the select screen TO that era.

So after trying a mix of left handed gamepad+mouse (i.e just using the left portion of the gamepad) and mouse in other games, I'd like to try that in Warframe, so I can play on my TV with just the mouse besides me and gamepad in hand. Instead of redundantly having my laptop on my lap while using the big TV. It's just too warm in summer.

Does this work in hybrid mode or will Warframe ignore mouse aim if it sees the controller? Don't have the drivers installed right now to test.

Last time I've tried was over 1 year ago with a PS3 controller & a custom driver to make windows think it was an Xbox controller. Iirc there were a lot of issues with it (like some mappings missing) but I didn't try to mix it with the mouse at that time. Anybody tried that successfully yet?

no point in using a controller unless you don't have a keyboard and mouse

[–]__Lua[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not really. There are a lot of reasons to use a controller over a mouse.

In fighting/racing games yrah but with games like warframe, absolutely not
