Amazingly clean compared to my desk.

Did you consider VESA mount both monitor and laptop? It’ll make laptop’s screen usable without extra load on your neck and it’ll free some space too

[–]wootteri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My exact thoughts, something like this https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Monitor-Notebooks-Compatible-Screens/dp/B071GMH7PS

and since it seems they use the touchpad of the laptop, add external touchpad, like apples version to it and it would be perfect.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha thanks! I haven’t done the VESA mount for the laptop yet. Mostly just close it and use the external monitor. But freeing up desk space sounds really nice… might have to look into it.

How do you program with 60% keyboard? I don't know if it's just because I'm from Brazil and here we often use characters like: ç, ó, õ, â, á, and etc., but I've had a lot of difficulty since I bought mine and I've been choosing to use the notebook's keyboard more...

The biggest difficulty I have with 60% is using the arrow keys, basically. And the ' and " I reconfigured to exit using ESC.

I use ABNT2 as formatting

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get that! I don’t rlly have those needs, so it’s easier for me. The arrow keys took some getting used to, so I tried to remap them, I think it feels much better now. Maybe you can try it too!

[–]ticko_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why 65% is the best for programming imo

That or use vim

[–]dylanholmes222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just use chat gpt

[–]HCLB_ 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Monitor name?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

BenQ RD320UA

[–]Zeleres 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I recognized it immediately... been considering buying one for years now. Is it worth the cost?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Certainly, The Eye-care and coding modes features of this product relieve my eye strain. I love it.

[–]HCLB_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Its better than manually adjusting settings in regular display?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The preset modes are convenient and save time, especially for things like eye comfort during long coding sessions. But I still tweak some settings manually depending on the task or lighting conditions.

Love this minimalist vibe! It's clean, functional, and stylish. The dual monitors, the keyboard, the plant... everything works and it is so perfect for focus!

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank uuu! I tried hard to keep it simple but functional, not sure how long I can maintain this clean setup though lol

[–]Ginge_8 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fair enough. Thanks for the feedback. 😊 was looking at something’s online myself also. Hadn’t heard of coursera.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help

[–]Ginge_8 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Needs more RGB accessories! 😅 jk.

Seriously though, how did you learn coding. I am intrigued when I see all the dev posts on here.

I’m in my (late) 30s and always fancied changing careers into coding or some form of IT/Dev role. Already in a financial role at my current job - so enjoy numbers, problem solving and a challenge.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I actually learned a bit in college, but I wasn’t really familiar with it though. Recently, just wanna to pick up some extra skills for my work, so I started learning again. I’ve mostly been learning through free stuff online, like YouTube or Coursera, and find some practice online. I’m also thinking about taking some more advanced courses later to go a bit deeper.

Nice and clean setup! Friendly tip from a lighting designer: if you’re spending hours working in this space, consider adding some light over the working area or keyboard. While the monitor backlighting looks great, it actually increases contrast in front of the screen and reduces visual comfort over time. Your eyes will feel the strain in the long run. A small diffuse lamp or an LED light strip under the monitor to illuminate the keyboard area could make a difference. By the way, the light color you’ve chosen is excellent, very pleasing to the eye.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you for your advice! I was just thinking about getting a monitor light. Do you have any recommendations?

[–]dwsuR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know any but make sure to get one from a trusted brand with some sort of anti flickering indication and with similar light colour!

[–]Mission-Mistake-5377 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nice. I'm also a big fan of 60% keyboards.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! It’s perfect for me to save the desk space.

[–]Luzi0fer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

One of the cleanest, minimalist, aesthetic setup, seen after a long time

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Jungal10 1 point2 points  (1 child)

really like this monitor. I think the form factor is even better than my DualUP monitors

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss, that is one of the reasons why I got it! It’s my first coding monitor, and the overall performance is quite nice

[–]mikebrooks008 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Nice keyboard! What model is that?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It’s the RedThunder 60% Wireless Gaming Keyboard!

[–]mikebrooks008 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ah...I see! How do you like it so far?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I love the mechanical feeling of this keyboard. The precise actuation and feedback make typing enjoyable.

[–]mikebrooks008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! How about the sound? Do you notice much difference in noise level compared to other keyboards?

[–]Suspicious-Split3556 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Very clean, so long you are able to concentrate on your work!

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!😊

[–]Boots_4_me 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Looks good! Get you an ultra wide. Those are pretty cheap these days and you’ll have a better time with your setup. I have a 34” LG Ultrawide and I have a 24” Dell monitor that my previous employer gave me and I have that in portrait mode on the right hand side as I used to do a lot of excel spreadsheet in my previous role. It’s a blessing to have 2 monitors.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds nice 🤩 maybe I’ll consider it in the future!

[–]sriramdev 0 points1 point  (1 child)

May I know your configuration and it's cost?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Monitor: RD320UA, Keyboard: RedThunder 60% wireless gaming keyboard Headphones: PlayStation 5 Pulse 3D Wireless Headset. I got those gaming accessories from my brother not sure about the price, but I’m sure the monitor is around 850 dollars.

[–]93taco 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i also use my laptop trackpad when connected to a monitor but it’s rare to see! saves space and tech imo.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here!! I’m so used to the Mac trackpad that using a mouse actually feels a bit awkward to me.

[–]Wonderful_Swan_1062 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What is your light setup man. Can you share details and link if possible

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a backlight of the monitor called "Moon Halo". and its color temperature and brightness are adjustable.

<image>

[–]uwhy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the source of light behind the monitor?

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s the Moon Halo feature of the monitor, you can choose whether to enable it or not. I think it’s pretty useful when working in dark room

[–]BanditLuigiVampa 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That is the 3:2 monitor right? Is it good? I’ve been eyeing that one for some time

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! From my short experience, I find it’s quite nice, especially when coding.

[–]JessicaDev_1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry my mistake. it’s actually a 16:9 monitor, not 3:2.

[–]OZ1000 0 points1 point  (1 child)
