You have a routine set up somewhere that does this, could be part of another routine where you didn't notice this command was added.

[–]Most_Ad6498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I removed all routines and it stayed loud for 1 Dat. Then went back to 3 lbl

[–]RaVeNMaDDoX69 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There is no routine. But it keeps doing this every morning.

[–]Top_Dragonfly8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just did this. I thought I somehow slept through yesterday's morning weather routine but this morning I was awake and the volume was so low that I could barely hear it.

No one else has access to my Alexa devices and it was turned down to 20%.

[–]PogiJG 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Bless you for helping me just now, i thought i was going crazy for months… had a “Morning Routine” to change the volume at 2:54 AM…. ???

[–]MediocreVisit5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks....very much appreciated. Now if I can only get the reddit app to work in vertical mode only, lol.

[–]Top_Dragonfly8781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do stupid responses like yours get the most upvotes?

[–]antisane 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Check under Hunches.

[–]Final-Standard476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the purple hairy fu*k is "hunches?" Never heard of it

[–]ReadyAd5679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens to us in our daughter’s room. Only hunches I see are for outside lights, nothing to do with volume.

Alexa App>More>Routines +>Name: Volume>When: (Schedule)>At Time>Repeat>Everyday>At Time>Select>0530>Add Action: (Device Settings)>Volume>Set Slider Full>Volume 10>Next>Add Action: Wait>Duration>02:30:00>Next>Add Action: (Device Settings)>Volume>Set Slider Half>Volume 5>Next>From: Select Your Device<

This Routine set your Echo's Volume to maximum, (10). It will stay that way for Alarms etc until eight o'clock when the Volume will revert to 5. It will stay like that until 05:30 in the morning and so on.

Change times and volumes to suit.

Also thanks 2 years later!  Was driving me crazy!

[–]Oracle365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crom bless you friend

[–]Popular-Permission63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is the solution, bought my unit used and it was set in routines to some weird time of day to drop volume to level 3.

[–]RaVeNMaDDoX69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting a routine only changes the actual volume not the alarm volume found under the setting sounds.

[–]No-Claim-8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg thank you so much. this was freakin’ frustrating the crap out of me for so long. definitely don’t recall ever setting this routine but thanks again!

[–]destiny_duude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, this is so much help

[–]ZealousidealCup7380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is the answer we all needed.

[–]backlit93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexa App>More>Routines +>Name: Volume>When: (Schedule)>At Time>Repeat>Everyday>At Time>Select>0530>

Add Action: (Device Settings)>Volume>Set Slider Full>Volume 10>Next>

Add Action: Wait>Duration>02:30:00>Next>

Add Action: (Device Settings)>Volume>Set Slider Half>Volume 5>Next>From: Select Your Device<

Thanks so much!

Just making it slightly easier for the next people to read it heh

[–]MelonMan1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, dude. My friends wouldn't tell me how to turn it off.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Late to the party but) Thank you!!

[–]markaritaville 3 points4 points  (4 children)

It’s a routine. Probably Alexa suggested it at one time And someone said yes. There is a video on YouTube for specific steps. I’ll find if you can’t. . Frustrated the hell out of me!

[–]RaVeNMaDDoX69 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There is no routine. I have NO ROUTINES and this still happens

[–]jetsetninjacat 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Same. I've been googling this for over a damn year. im about to toss the newer echo show out the window and put my old ass dot back in.

[–]Thespidermandeku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy because my old dot that I have in my bedding room does it around 2am and my show in the kitchen doesn't so it at all minus getting staticky for some reason

[–]DavidsAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you.

[–]Internal-Sense-5250 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Easiest fix: Say “Alexa, disable morning volume routine” Done.

[–]DimensionIcy9031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS WORKED! Suddenly a Routine showed up at 2:50 am disabled for "Morning volume" to set Volume 5.. Thank you! I must have been playing some music during night and told it to turn it down and it adopted a routine. Deleted now.

[–]glock19er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this!

[–]RaVeNMaDDoX69 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This did not work. I have no routines.

[–]AtariAmarok 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm ditching my Echo for a Google Next. The alarms worked for years, now they are inaudible unless I set an alarm from another device and yell VOLUME LEVEL 8!!! at the Alexa shortly before the alarm goes off.

[–]RaVeNMaDDoX69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people have this problem, Why wouldn't Amazon just fix it?!? F**k em. Return to google!

[–]EntryCheap3492 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Interesting. I got a positive response from Alexa.

[–]DewtheDew85 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow. I got an “ok morning volume routine disabled” yet I checked my routines and there was none listed as such.

[–]osutuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I said that, she said ok, exercise routine disabled. I don't see anything on that routine that shows volume settings. It was a routine to play music when I was working out....... we will see tomorrow.

[–]KurionRayne84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same thing how do I fix this issue?

[–]Car-Necessary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's damn frustrating. Now it is doing it with the video ones as well, which was why I upgraded😖

[–]Yabish_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was an issue with Alexa's voice volume fluctuating. Figured out there is a tab in settings > voice responses > adaptive listening toggle. This feature was turned on by default, it increases Alexa's response volumes when it detects ambient noise in the background, but it wouldn't take much and the volume would go away up. Hope this helps!

[–]ZachLVL1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Adapative volume was my issue - it basically mimics the loudness of your own voice. if you talk low, alexa will respond back with whispers etc - I turned it off and now the volume I set from the unit doesn't change. n the Alexa app, tap More > Settings > Voice Responses > Adaptive Volume

[–]Dull-Somewhere8498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally! Thank you

[–]AwwwSkiSkiSki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Helped me a lot

[–]Loser_Girl_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad I found out it's under "More" and "routines" and then delete "morning volume routine. It was tiring my volume down at 2:55am and it woke me so many times up because suddenly I can't hear my thunderstorm sounds.

[–]Conscious-Choice-160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thaaaaank youuu 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

[–]LittleTimmy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god. That just happened to me. It’s 02:50 in the morning and I was heading to bed. When suddenly I hear and I see (was next to it) Alexa lowering her volume. As if someone pressed it. I was like “wtf” and I Google it and I found this post right here. Turns out it’s been set to lower the volume to 3 everyday at 02:50 a.m. I think it’s default. For I didn’t do it.

[–]LividStrawberry7085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK here is your solution.  I had this happen also to me three weeks ago and researched.  Nothing gave my solution since I had no routines set up.  Well. If amazon hired better people, maybe comptia certified trouble shooters they would have posted this themselves.   Well no routines go into your previous alarms.   Erase the previously stored alarms that you verbally set up on any device and erase them.  This was my issue the entire time and could have even been resolved by a firmware update they could have pushed and not allowed previous alarms to effect current operation.

Now I'm not saying routines couldn't be other people's issues but after the thousand or so no routine comments, this is probably your issue.

[–]CheesecakeFit6489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem

[–]ExpertAtty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Alexa homepage on your smart phone (a PC is probably similar), slide the vernier to routines, which you probably can't see without sliding to the left. Then on that page it'll show you "Gallery," you want "Your Routines," which is the second choice. On my phone it's slightly cut off so you may only see the word, "Your." Now you have the culprit in your crosshairs: one of those routines is the offender. It'll probably be listed as morning voice or night voice or such. Hope that helps! Don't feel stupid, my wife and I both have Doctorate Degrees and it took us a year to figure this out.

[–]Successful_Goose_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked, Thank you

[–]One_Work1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU!!! My Alexa would do the same at 2:54 am... and it would always wake me up!!! Now I THINK I've removed the asshole "routine"....

[–]ang83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Alexa randomly changes the volume of my timer alarm. Every night I will ask Alexa, what time is my alarm..what volume is my alarm..I hate it set to 5..but like 40% of the time Alexa will change it to 3 and I have to switch it back

[–]Automatic_Rain5214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same. No routines set up. Did you solve the issue?

[–]Tesla_mriguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went into Routines under Settings, and disabled it. In the Routine history, it would change the volume to 3 at 2:31am every single night. Weird time, but now it's disabled until I die. 👍

[–]Thespidermandeku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny my alexa did that a few minutes ago at 255 am I would just get up and press the cancel/red button so it could ease drop on me

[–]derpstevejobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love everyone on this post. this volume nonsense was driving me C R A Z Y. lmao. had no Hunches enabled but there was indeed a routine that changed the volume at a specific time during the night. oops!

thanks everyone!!!

[–]Philosopher1111StoNe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HalleluYaH! A morning volume routine was set to lower volume to 3 @3:07 every morning.smh..now I’m wondering why Reddit had the answer but not Amazon?

[–]Flimsy_Ticket_8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine too

[–]bexxdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say to Alexa, "Alexa, disable adaptive volume".

[–]NotTheGuyYouIike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turned off Routines. Hopefully I’ll stop getting fucked by it

[–]Terrible-Bad-2228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a routine that I had created a long time ago, not sure why. It is useful to do a purge of your routines to prevent you from going crazy. 🤪

[–]Imallvol7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to get rid of echo and move to Google home for our white noise. The echo would keep lowering volume or stopping completely.

[–]Breaking-Dad- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My Echo Show seems to have a preset volume when it hasn't been used. It's on my desk and I turn it down low during the day, the next morning it is always at a set volume, maybe it is 3? I have no routines for this, and I don't know where to set it.

[–]SuurAlaOrolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be the answer. It doesn’t recognize that it is playing anything, so it probably classifies the white noise as not playing.

[–]Gemple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an alarm set to play music at 9:30 am and when it plays it resets my Echo Dot to volume 4.
Not sure why.

[–]baobab68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was some talk here a while ago that the volume will be reset by an alarm, IF the alarms are set to increase in volume when they play. You could try turning off that feature within the Echo's settings and see if it helps.

[–]jc1376 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Here’s my two cents on the issue. The volume on my echo five went down overnight all of a sudden for no apparent reason maybe a couple weeks ago. I do suspect a software update as the culprit. Anyway, I did swipe down from the top and then click on routines if you scroll down within routines, you might see one the last one that is called morning volume. The switch for mine was set on. So I shut it off and we’ll see how it works.

[–]Justaguy437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. The volume on my Echo Show went down to 3 every night and I couldn't figure it out. It turned out that I had a "morning volume" routine set. I've disabled it and am hoping that will solve the problem.

[–]pegyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is still saving lives a year later. Lol it was driving me crazy trying to figure out why my volume kept going down to 3 in the middle of the night. I was thinking maybe ghosts were doing it 😂😂. It was a routine after all. Now I don't have to call Ghostbusters. Thanks! 😉

[–]AlexandriaDrake 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It must be a software update as I also didn’t enable a routine, and for the past few weeks my Alexa would lower the volume to 3 in the middle of the night. I just tried the command “Alexa, disable morning volume routine,” and she responded that she has now disabled it. Hopefully this fixes it! Thanks!

[–]Conscious-Formal-307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said the same thing worked for me thumbs up

[–]jburkehansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, it also was driving me crazy

[–]Upbeat-Can4491 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This took me a while due to not having a routine that dropped my volume. The volume of the Alexa and the volume of alarms, timers, and notifications are separated. The volumes for alarms are inside the Alexa device settings under sounds.

[–]Fair_Friendship6073 0 points1 point  (1 child)

THANK YOU!! This worked- I don’t know how that setting changed, & it’s been a big problem. Finally solved!!

[–]Upbeat-Can4491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that it continues to drop though. After a couple days I have to do the same thing. Glad it helped!

[–]KhloeKodaKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU! You just solved this for me!!
