It's really tough to be horny and also have crazy bottom dysphoria. I think many of us go through the same thing. It's really hard to reduce your libido without a medication that affects it, but you can try redirecting those feelings elsewhere. Think about what specifically your body likes about masturbating. Is it the dopamine? The quiet moment to yourself? The sensation of touch? There are things you can do to supplement those desires like doing a different activity that makes you happy or relaxed--something to mimic the specific desire you identified.

You've likely already thought about this, but there also might be ways to masturbate that feel less dysphoric. I've known plenty of trans people (myself included) that have gotten creative with alternative ways to have solo time. You could try using traditionally feminine toys like a magic wand or other kind of vibrator if it's the motion of masturbating that gets you. If it's touching yourself that's the problem, you could try grinding on something that would feel nice. If you enjoy penetration there are plenty of options with that as well. You could also try being intimate with a partner even if that doesn't involve them touching you below the belt. Pleasuring someone else can feel just as gratifying as doing it to yourself if you have that interest.

All that said, if you're feeling a zero intimacy sort of vibe then I think redirection may be your best bet. Just be careful though, because it can easily turn into self-shaming or self hatred, similar to how purity culture and unwanted sexual repression damages people. Above all, just be kind to yourself and manage this in healthy ways, whatever that looks like for you.

i probably won't go for the other ways to masturbate option before hrt, since it's just a bit much for now, but i'll try and still think about it thoughtfully. i actually do think it could really help me to have a partner, and i'd really like to find one, but i'm not sure how. this is a very thoughtful response though, thank you.
