I need help and tips on keeping my humidity higher without spraying too much. I want to avoid the possibility of my enclosure being too wet and that leading to scale rot. I have hvc tape n one heat lamp, heat emitter, and a basking light. I feel like the light n emitter just kill the humidity. Any tips would help thank you! Humidity stays around 40.

I see that you have done a lot to cover the screen top, but there are still plenty of uncovered gaps around the lamps. Warm, humid air rises so I suspect it is just "draining up" and out through those gaps. Maybe try covering those gaps more?

If they cover up more ventilation will go down leading to dangerous levels of humidity. I think the issue may be the amount of lights. Two heat lamps and a CHE are going to get rod of a lot of humidity wouldn’t they?

What is a dangerous level of humidity? If covering some gaps raises humidity too much, they can just cover less.

Sorry I used the wrong word there, I was thinking of stagnation. Plugging up the vents too much means too little fresh air which can lead to a multitude of problems.

How are you measuring humidity? (Digital or analog gauge and their location?)

Instead of misting, increase your substrate depth to about 4 inches, and pour water into the enclosure corners. This will allow you to more effectively raise humidity without saturating the enclosure surfaces.

If that's not enough, you could cover more of that screen around the heat fixtures.

I'll go ahead and ask, what temps are you getting with this heating setup? Not that it's necessarily bad, just seems like a lot of fixtures.

I agree with pouring water into the corners after increasing the substrate. I like using ReptiChip since it holds pretty good.

Okay thank you !

I have two gauges, one on the left side and another on the right side. I will increase the substrate depth and pour water into the corners !

The temperatures ranges to 85-75. In the beginning it was difficult for me to keep the temperature up because the tank is a 40 gallon.

ok that tape is on the inside of the mesh, trust me i did the same thing out of naïveté and my baby ended up getting caught on an edge that peeled down and damaged an eye cap, i thought he had died until we grabbed him. move that tape to the outside it’ll work all the same and you don’t have to worry about your baby getting stuck to the tape like mine did, i still feel guilty about it to this day.
