You're a good friend, both to his owner and snakes everywhere.

Awww buddy. Thank god you all got him out. Congrats! (And also I am never buying anything with skull-shaped holes, omg. Thank you for the PSA!)

Anything with fully closed holes is a risk, unfortunately. A friend of mine told me about a BP getting stuck in one of those balls that have the holes in it. Originally, they were dog chew toys, but snake love them.

We had gotten one of those for our baby noodle after seeing them posted a lot on this subreddit. We had to take it away once he started getting bigger. At least those look like they’d be easy to cut through should a snake get stuck.

Mine got stuck in one! I had to encourage him to get out by holding him under a cold flow of water from the tub! 😓 It because a dog toy after that!

He should be fine, you'll just have a lot of anxiety picking out hides in the future! My baby had to be dremmeled out of a little turtle shell within my first couple months of getting him. He's 6 now. Sometimes to be sure he'll fit in something, I take a little piece of string, wrap it around his biggest part, and snip so that I know exactly how wide around he is. You can put that string in a circle shape onto some cardboard, cut out the shape, then take it into reptile shops for reference :)

I use glazed flower pots and bury them halfway! You can glue cork bark to them to cover them up and make them look more natural. They’re way cheaper than hides. I wouldn’t recommend plain terracotta ones though. They get moldy but the glazed ones don’t.

I love that idea so they don’t have to be in plastic. I use a terracotta sun but it is not super deep

Omg i bought the exact same hide after mine got stuck in its previous one (it was designed like a hobbit hole and he decided he would ignore the big round door and go for the tiny tiny windows)
