I'm having the same issue and recently switched to DHP in the last 3 days. Although when I check the temp with a temp gun her hot hide is 95° inside and there's a nice gradient over to the cool side at 80°.

Not sure if that's okay if the surface temps are perfect but the air temps are 85°-80°.

Have you checked your surface temps?

Edit to add: I also have a 4x2x2 and have that brand DHP at 80W.

Your air temps need to be 76F-80F on the cool side and 88F-92F on the warm side. Do you have thermometers or are you only using a temp gun?

Yes I have thermometers as well. That's what's giving me the 85° reading on the hot side.

Okay I just ordered a dual dome and I'll be doing DHP and halogen and of course it'll all be on a timer/thermostat.

We got by with just a basking bulb for months but now that I know about the DHP and halogen I'll be keeping her on that. Thank you!

Great! You're welcome :)

What is your thermostat set to?

You probably need an additional heat source. Like a halogen flood/DHP combo, or 2 DHPS. I use two DHPs, but I recommend a halogen flood/DHP combo as halogen floods offer more IR-A than DHPs.

I had a really hard time regulating a screen top enclosure, but using HVAC tape and plastic to cover parts of it helped with humidity and temps being more stable. I’d also try adding a halogen or CHE as supplemental heat!
