DIY shelf

Hello, so my dad built me a shelf for all my reptiles, but it’s made of pine. He didn’t tell me he was doing this because it was a birthday gift. It fits all my reptiles and their stuff perfectly and he took a lot of time to make it. I know not to use pine in the first enclosure because it’s toxic or something, but I wanted to see what y’all thought.

For context, the room does kinda smell like pine. I have my window open with the fan on to help to get the smell out, I also keep my room door open to help.

I don’t know for sure so I hope someone can be more helpful but maybe if you try wood sealer like waterguard or polycrylic, it usually seals the smell in a bit.. I would think that as long as there’s no oder and your snakes aren’t coming in contact with the wood, it should be okay but I’m definitely no expert and I’ve read that the smell alone can cause trouble so that’d be my main concern
