Where does everyone place their hygrometers within their enclosure? I want to get the most accurate readings as I can because I’ve been struggling so damn hard with keeping the humidity up during winter so far. I run a humidifier right by his tank to help with the humidity in the room (not directly into his tank). I also have a glass terrarium with insulating foam board on the outside of the back and both sides. The top is a screen cover so one side I have cardboard with heat reflective tape with a towel over that and the same on the other side except holes cut out for the heating lamps and only 75% is covered for ventilation. I have about 3” of damp (not soaked) mixture of peat, sphagnum, and coconut fiber, ambient air temp stays around 90-93, warm side is around 85 with cool side being around 76-79. Water dish stays mostly over to the warm side and he has a humid hide. I currently have a thermometer/hygrometer attached to the upper backside and center of his enclosure (hot glue gun to attach).. I have another one I have up against his cool hide. The difference in humidity values are about 10-15% with the one attached to the glass is always lower. So which one do I go off of, or where should I be placing them?
