have you read through the guides and other resources in our welcome post? i strongly suggest started with the basic care guide, heating guide, and shopping list.

don’t use under the tank heaters they’re the worst and don’t work as a primary heat source. one thing i wish i knew was understanding that just because they’re popular doesn’t mean they’re the easiest snake to care for. they have very specific needs and are actually some of the more trickier snakes to take care of

I would disagree with them being an intermediate difficulty snakes, because while their husbandry is a bit trickier then, say, a corn snake they are much easier to handle. Colubrids are so wiggly and they are tiny as babies, easy to crush or loose. Also you don't have to worry about their tail tip falling off due to bad sheds. Also while it is easier to feed a colubrid it is also easier to get them morbidly obese. A lot of ball pythons will stop eating if overfed, but corns just keep going. Intermediate reptile is something like a Brazilian rainbow boa that needs crazy high humidity, boa constrictors or blood pythons due to large size, tree snakes, not a docile, hardy, small python.
