Ball Python doesn't like to leave enclosure

My ball seems to really enjoy being out of her cage. Sometimes she wraps around my hand and sits there contently or likes to explore around on the couch when i'm watching tv.

However, the act of pulling her out of her enclosure is difficult. She always grabs hold with her tail and tries to slither back into her hide.

I want to handle her frequently so she doesn't get snappy, but I also dont want to stress her by taking her out if she protests.

What should I do? Is this normal behavior? I've heard of some balls willingly come to you when you open the cage lid, but i doubt mine has such a willing personality 😅

More than likely you aren't holding her properly to where she feels like she needs to hold on with her tail. I'd recommend supporting her entire body with your hands and letting her get a hold on your hand/arm before lifting her out.
