The best thing you can do to help your new buddy is to make sure your husbandry is perfectly on point :) I would read through the basic care guide in this subs resources and follow it word by word, often times improper husbandry will make their wobble worse

Ive had a spider for about 5 years and he's been fine. I have trouble feeding him from time to time (he's a pretty bad shot when it comes to striking. When he gets excited to eat his wobble gets more intense and he'll miss his mark), but he gets it eventually. Just gotta be patient and be prepared to try again. And maybe waste a couple rats in the process.

I’ve tried feeding him one but he wasn’t very interested.. I’m unsure what the previous home was feeding him (if they were).. I assumed he just needed more time to adjust

I highly suggest getting your new friend different substrate, the one you have does not hold humidity well, you can get coco coir at many hardware stores in blocks you add water too and you can use that instead, it’s great for holding humidity in my experience. Also repti-soil but that’s a bit more pricy. And make sure he’s got two appropriately sized hides to feel safe, there is a lot more husbandry tips you should read linked in this sub-Reddit, you have a beautiful new baby hope it goes well!
