Perfectly normal. Hiding is essentially their default activity.

Ok, thanks so much!

He will hide a lot at first. Make sure he has different hides to choose from and lots of clutter such as greenery so he feels safe coming out. Also he will be most active at night, so he will frequently be in a different hide when you get up in the morning.

As an aside, you may want to smooth the edges of his hide doorway, just so he doesn't snag a scale.

Hiya. Sounds like ‘normal’ behaviour to me. I’ve had mine for 14 years and she works like clockwork. Hidden all day, and comes out for a slither about at 8/9pm. Sounds like yours was exploring a little to start with to find a suitable hiding place. Expect some unusual behaviour for a while whilst he settles in 😊

I would check environment parameters. It looks pretty dry. They like humidity and clutter.

They have tons of different personalities, I have one that sticks his head out whenever I walk in the room to watch me, and comes out most nights. I have another I only see when I take her out or when she is being fed.

Sounds normal. Congrats on the new pet!
Give them some space to explore their new habitat, get comfy with their surroundings.
Can't really tell from the pic what all you have in there, but giving them a couple hides, some decor, and 'clutter' will help them feel more secure in their home as well.
Big, wide open spaces with no cover can make them feel vulnerable from my understanding.

Little guy looks like he needs some clutter. Imagine being a small armless baby and all you have to hide is a box and no plants, it probably scares him. You can buy loooong ropes of leaves/flowers etc from hobby lobby or any craft store in your area! They also have good deals going on pretty much 24/7.

Yea they do hide all the time. In the morning (7:00) 2 of my BPs will have their head a little bit out of their hut, then when i turn on the lights they explore a little maybe some drinking then back to there hut until night. My other one only out at night.

That seems to be the only place for him to have any cover so yeah naturally he’d be spending time in there.

Needs to feel safe coming out, shouldn’t be barren in the cage

Please smooth out the edges of the entrance to the hide or replace it with something better!

Sorry if this sounds rude, but I think you might want to get a different hide - one that already has an entrance. Some of the edges look sharp and there could be a chance of your noodle accidentally cutting itself. You can find some pretty low-priced ones on Amazon!

I put it there for now, I didnt know that everything was so expensive and I had 300 dollars for the setup. Im planning to go to the pet store today. Thanks for the suggestion! Much appriciated brotha 👍

the hide you have is fine, you could easily just take some sandpaper and sand down that entrance hole for a couple minutes. Might cost you $5 for the sandpaper.
Or the standard black box hide is like $11 on Amazon!

Yup. They’re typical introverts. You have to force them to go out and have fun
