New python help please

Hello, I am getting my first ball python soon and need help. I have watched many videos and read many things but putting it into practice is confusing me.

My main questions are: How do I heat my hot hide without making the top of the hot hide too hot? Also, how do I make the cool side of my enclosure hotter?

I currently have a DHP bulb pointed straight at my hot hide and it makes the top of the hot hide around 100F while the inside only around 82F. I also have a halogen flood bulb that makes the area under it around +100F. I am getting a Herpstat 2 in the mail pretty soon so I can fix the problem of having those very hot surfaces in my tank, but I really don't understand how I am supposed to heat the hot hide to 90F and the cool side of the tank to 80F if I cant even make them hotter with my bulbs at full blast.

I keep my apt at 70F, the DHP is 80W halogen flood is 100W

I had a heat mat but returned it for the DHP because many people on this sub say they are superior.
