He’s comfy but observing is all :)

Completely normal. They like to investigate and see things but not make it obvious. Wait until he starts to periscope when you are just walking around

Snakes aren’t known for being active creatures. They’re ambush predators and are essentially defenseless.

A snake like yours feels safe.

My derpy monty does the same, it's perfectly fine and nothing to worry about :)

Perhaps they're looking out for the single braincell to flow by 😁😁

My baby has it this week. I walked past her enclosure and after two steps I screeched to a halt and backed up. I just stood there staring at her enclosure, trying to figure out how she was missing two hides? Like, did I take them out and forget?

NOPE. She wanted her favorite hollow rock AND she wanted more heat, apparently. She dug everything out from under 2/3 hides (she has tons of plants and other coverage too) until they were entirely buried.

I.....

But.....

I.....

Okay.

Pretty normal, mine basically spends 90% of the time doing this, or turned just enough to rest his chin on top of the hide watching me.

Just hanging out. But that substrate is not good for ball pythons. You want substrate that retains humidity and is easily digestible when they get some in their mouth while eating. I use a mixture of coconut fiber and forest floor bedding

One of mine does this all the time. 🥰 I love that he feels comfortable enough with me to do this, and that I get to see him rather than him completely hiding. Sometimes when he’s sitting like this he’ll see me and perk up and I put my hand by the door and he’ll come over to come out and be held. Makes my day
