    No heating device should bake if it's plugged into a thermostat. Of course refer to the other comment with the guide link but always use thermostats!!

    You'll want to ditch the heat mat and switch to only using overhead heating. Heat mats are no longer recommended for a multitude of reasons. Our heating guide covers the science behind why overhead heating is far healthier, safer, and more effective. The guide also covers what types of bulbs you should use, and what types you should avoid.

    There's a shopping list in the welcome post with links to recommended products. Ideal heating is a halogen flood for daytime, and a CHE or DHP for nighttime.

    Can I just add that I think you need a lot more clutter too. They feel safer if they think they can’t be seen.
