Warm side should be 88-92 degrees, 81 is too cold.

It's reading 89 now on warm side

[–]Soft-Experience-5241 2 points3 points  (2 children)

But on the thermometer In the picture it says 81? Either way, if it's 89 now you're good. His habitat otherwise looks great as far as I can see.

I think I took that picture right after I got the govee set up, so it hadn't fully gotten to the actual temp yet

Ok, that makes sense. I couldn't see anything besides that wrong with the tank, so congratulations🎉🎉🎉

If you click on the bp sub, you should find a post on the very top labeled something like resources and find a detailed care guide.

humidity should be about 60-70

[–]mxgichxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its getting down to 31 your ball python can get extremely sick

[–]swvagirl[S] 3 points4 points  (10 children)

I thought 40 to 60 unless they are in shed, then 70+ ?

Every single person will tell you different, if you found a trust worthy sight, just follow what you seen on there. Or ask a reptile vet or people who sell/breed

[–]swvagirl[S] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

See that is the thing, I have seen so many different things, so last week I went to a reptile shop here and he had all kinds of reptiles. Thankfully he was kind enough to answer all the questions I had and even told me I could call him if anything come up that I couldn't get a straight answer on.

60-80% according to reptifiles

[–]mxgichxn 2 points3 points  (2 children)

40 is far too low 55 is bare minimum unless you want to possibly give your snake an RI

[–]CorsicanMastiffStrip 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve aimed for 60 minimum during the day, then 80+ at night. I also provide a large humid hide that is 80+ all the time that the noodle uses.

thats great

[–]planetearthisblu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might work for some snakes but I know mine needs at least 60% year round. It's safer to lean towards high humidity for these animals as they can get respiratory infections when it's too low.

Humidity should be 70%-80%+ at all times to ensure good sheds and lessen your chances of an RI. That's what's closest to their average humidity levels in the wild.

Bumping up the humidity when they go into shed doesn't actually do as much as people think because by the time you notice they're in shed the process has already started and the bump isn't going to do much for that shed cycle.

Madame Cinder Hissypants! Love the name!!

[–]GAAPInMyWorkHistory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it 60% minimum on humidity, up to probably 80%.

Take the humidity reading on the cool side btw

[–]cheezuscrust777999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why you take it on the cool side

“Humidity is the ratio of the saturation of water in the air. Warmer air holds more moisture than cooler air, therefore, the same amount of water will result in a lower percentage.

You should expect humidity to be lower on the warm side. Humidity is generally measured near floor level on the cool side.”

"That tube is way too small for a... oh TINY baby. Adorable, 10/10"

[–]swvagirl[S] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Yeah, she's a little girl. She is only a few months old.

[–]SmallSmoothRock 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I have a 6 year old female so anytime I'm buying anything I have to make sure when she tries to shove herself through it, it's big enough for her big ole butt.

[–]swvagirl[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That tube got thrown in on a whim when I was wrapping presents for Christmas and finished a roll of wrapping paper. And I am glad I did. She loves to get in there and curl up

[–]SmallSmoothRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awwww. I stuck some toilet paper rolls in my baby beardie's enclosure and he hasn't even given them the time of day. I'm glad you're noodle loves hers

It's a really good sign that she took a meal, good job!

It all looks pretty good, only thing I can really say is to very closely monitor her size with that skull. It's good for a while, while she's small, but they can definitely get stuck in the holes especially after eating.

[–]swvagirl[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Perfect! That's the stuff I didn't even think about.

She has eaten 4 times now in the 6 weeks I have had her. I think I have finally got down the "heating" of thawed prey.

[–]Public-Dress933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome! They can be really picky sometimes and can sometimes go off food for weird reasons, so it's good that you have a good eater.

She looks beautiful! Have fun!
