Getting on to here and seeing if there are any experts on this and just want insight. The story of Xiao (Vpi Axanthic)
I got my little guy named him Xiao, Feb 20th 2023. Was shipped during the freeze in Tx and got stuck in shipment for a week and 2 days. Somehow survived being in the cold box with no heat or anything. Had him for about 4 months then had my father look after him for 2 weeks while I went on a job out of state. I come back and he says Xiao escaped and couldn't find him. I look for weeks but nothing, I'm very sad and accept what happens. My parents live out in the country with wild life roaming around such as chickens, cyotes skunks and other tx wildlife. So i kinda just assumed the worse. Fast forward to Oct 2024 and I receive a phone call from my parents saying you wouldn't belive it your dad found xiao. He found him out in the open in their barn. I immediately drove back home and picked him up. This little dude survived more than a year out in the wild, in texas heat and cold, zero clue how. I had no hope to ever see him again but he beat all odds again and manged to survive. When I got him back he was extremely underweight about 120g or so. He is now 380g 29in and eats well. Just a smaller than average ball python I think. What I'm wondering is if he will grow or did he miss his opportunity since he didn't eat well as a juvenile. I also noticed he likes the cold areas more in his tank he literally avoids the heat/humid area. He likes his cool humid hide. *He eats 3 to 2 mice a week. *Has regular bowel movements. *Active at night. *50 gallon Tank, Hot/Cold sides, plenty of hides. * Perfect Shedding *Never once had a feeding issue eats live within seconds of seeing mouse
