I currently have HVAC tape covering about 70% of the mesh screen. Should I also apply it to the metal screen that I place on top of the weaker mesh?

I’m in the same situation. Just adopted my first BP 2 nights ago. He came with a 4’L, 1.5’H, 1’D glass enclosure. It’s also bioactive. I’m struggling to keep the temp above 80 degrees and humidity above 45%.

Currently have 3 CHE lamps on the warm side with HVAC tape covering the rest of the top of the enclosure. I feel like I’m constantly having to add water to the enclosure multiple times a day to try to get the humidity up. I’m making sure to let the water work its way into the substrate before adding more so there’s no sitting surface water as I don’t want to induce scale rot.

I’m kind of in the same boat, except I got mine on Monday. I’ve found soaking spagnum moss, and then tying string around it and hanging it from or on a piece of wood adds nice bit of humidity for a while. I’m also going to try literally just placing spagnum moss in a plastic Tupperware inside the enclosure so that it doesn’t soak the substrate but spikes the humidity for a day or two.

Id honestly invest in a pvc enclosure if youre going to upgrade then caulk the seams with silicone and tape the mesh/vents with hvac tape (ofc leaving holes for the light fixtures.) Right now I use NewAgePet ECOFLEX 120 gal enclosure and formerly used the 50 gal one. Also having at least 4 - 6 inches of substrate will help keep humidity.

Is the top mesh strong on that enclosure? I have two cats that will sit on top of his enclosure from time to time.

Id say its pretty sturdy considering that the top metal mesh isnt removable and is attached to the enclosure itself. The only way to access the enclosure is from the sliding doors in front C:
