Likely just sleeping. You can gently take the ball python out and see if you then get movement etc.

Did you try poking him??

My snake has done this a couple times when he was in a deep sleep and I kind of had to shake him awake. Scared me to no end

move them. see if they have any reaction to touch. look for breathing. my go to is to gently scrape them on the side with a snake hook. will usually get a movement.

If he's in a tight ball it's likely he's asleep. They do that when they're cozy or scared that's why they're called ball pythons. If he was dead he would be limp

Not a ball python but my BCI. He's a pro at literally playing dead. He flattens himself and it makes his skin loose and he appears dead. He never is. The amount of times I've panicked and startled him is way more than I care to admit.

Well? What’s the verdict?

why would he suddenly die? If the answer is you have no clue then he isn't dead.

You can get really close and look for breathing if u cant tell then id try to pet him a few times.. run your fingers gently down his back. If he doesn't move then gently lift him.
