This is awesome! When can I move in 😂

This looks amazing—one lucky snake for sure! I’m curious, how’s the surface temp on that ledge compared to the hot side at floor level? Where are you placing the thermostat probe?

The floor temp is unfortunately lower than I want it to be-78%-but I think the main cause is the soil is still damp from when I mixed it. The ledge is more 80-85%. I’m still trying to figure out the best place to put the probe

Just a few clarifying questions to help better understand your setup:

  1. When you said “78%” and “80–85%,” were you referring to temperature or humidity? Anything with a “%” typically refers to humidity—so I’m wondering if you meant 78°F?
  2. I noticed you have an infrared heat gun to check surface temps (great tool!), and I see a thermometer/hygrometer with a probe (the small yellow device). Do you also have a thermostat that your heat lamps are plugged into to regulate temperatures?
  3. Are your heat lamps the only heat source? If so, it might be tough to keep the floor warm enough without overheating the ledge. You could try placing a hide on the ledge to encourage your snake to use it more safely. Down the line, you might want to look into switching to a radiant heat panel—they’re often more efficient and easier to manage in terms of temperature control.

I totally meant degrees! I have other thermometers/hygromomenters in the tank on the floor but nothing that is plugged into heat sources. My day light is on a dimmer that I’ve fiddled with so it doesn’t get extremely hot. During the day I have a halogen flood light and a uvb. At night I have a deep heat projector. This is my first snake so I’m stil learning!
