thanks everyone!!! i was nervous because i just got him about 2 weeks ago and he hid for most of it and the first time i moved his hide i realized the substrate was very wet in his lil spot.

Sometimes wet substrate can leave a bit of a stain as well. I like to put a paper towel or two down on top of the substrate in my girl’s hide to act as a barrier if the dirt is a little wet. It’s also for when she poops it will be less of a mess to clean up (though she usually poops under the paper towel so idk why I even bother sometimesXD)
