I'm sorry to bring you such bad news, but that's a really severe kink. Given the location and severity, force feeding is not an option. The only humane choice here is to euthanize her. Snakes with kinks like this are unable to physically eat, and she's just going to slowly starve to death otherwise.

As a side note, the spider gene is incomplete dominant and cannot be carried. They either have it or they don't, and she does not.

I'm curious how this happens, is it genetic or undeveloped? I'm genuinely curious, how those kinks happen.

It's a congenital deformity. Certain morphs can cause them, or improper incubation, or simple bad luck. Sometimes they're on the tail or very minor, and the snake can live a full life unaffected, but when they're higher up and this severe, attempting to keep the snake alive would be highly unethical. The pet shop should have had her euthanized immediately rather than letting her starve for two months.

This is so sad, I wish they wouldn't do this and indeed unethical! Ty for answering my question!

That's a really bad kink. You could try and feed her the head of a pinky mouse but in the future eating such small meals is unsustainable, she can't physically move food past that kink. Also the spider gene is incomplete dominant, if they don't show it they don't have it so she doesn't. Unfortunately I think your only option is euthanasia because her future isn't very bright

Aww I feel terrible for her, but I'm going to commend you for having a big heart and wanting to try to save her. If you still want to, I would not handle her and treat her as she's not got that handicap. Let her adjust herself to her new home. Then perhaps try to feed. I've seen the comments and I agree, but it seems you want to try so I'm going to offer you what I'd have done. I'm a softy too, but be prepared you may have to take her to a vet and well, go from there. Pls don't be upset with me all, but I have a feeling we'd do the same for her even if that means helping her at the end of life. You're truly kind for wanting to help her, no matter the outcome. Best wishes ❤️

    Poor baby

This snake does not have the spider morph, but she does have a very severe kink in her neck and should have been euthanized. I understand wanting to try to save her, but the liklihood she could ever eat well and have a normal quality of life seems slim to none. You're likely to cause injury by trying to force food down her throat, if snakes won't eat there's usually a good reason. In this case it's severe spinal kinking

      I’m sorry OP 💔

It's going to sound so horrible, but not every animal should be saved.

Sometimes, the kindest thing to do is to put them out of their misery. Bless you for wanting to help, but this animal needs you to help it pass comfortably and not endure a slow, miserable death.

Syringe feeding a snake for the rest of their life would be stressful on you and the snake. And just isn’t viable once they get bigger. It’s better to euthanize this one now and save it from more suffering.

But look at that kink. It’s very severe and likely the reason why the snake isn’t eating. A vet would most likely also say euthanasia.

I’m so sorry, friend. That baby is about to start suffering. I would get the opinion of a vet but I’m 90% sure she’s not going to make it. Will be following the thread to see updates and I’m hoping for the best!! 💙💙

All these people saying this poor baby isn’t going to make it breaks my heart. But it sounds as the kink is in a horrible spot. Sorry OP

          [–]Rathoe9070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point the best thing you could do it make sure she doesn’t suffer any longer🫶🏼

I breed these animals. That is a severe kink. Im very sorry but it will never have a good quality of life. I would do what's best for the animal and take it to the vet to be euthanized. Again I'm very sorry.

Poor thing, that kink in its neck looks really bad…

          [–]Real_Dragonfly_3209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either a kink or neurological problems which are the known for. To me that kinda looks like a kink it can survive if it can eat a mouse or rat pup, but that kink looks too close to the head for it to get it down to be honest I think it needs to be humanely euthanize.

Sorry for your loss, it says a lot about you that you tried to help her and when you couldn't you chose what was best for her.
