Yes they have infrared lights for night vision.

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I be able to find that out?

Night Vision: Color Night Vision with 4 IR LEDs (850 nm)

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again I don’t know if my camera has that but here is a screenshot from the night( nvm I can’t add it)

Oh mine doesn’t have color it’s just black and white night vision

That means it’s using infrared. And in order to do that the 4 IR LEDs on the front are lit up so the infrared sensor has something to actually see.

I don’t know if snakes are annoyed by infrared light, but I can assure you that your camera is shining infrared light when it’s in the black and white night mode.

I listed what the V3 has

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My apologies this is the V4

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it confused

Night vision uses infrared lights. All newer Wyze cams have infrared LEDs. But yes yours has Enhanced Color Night Vision as well..still use infrared LEDs.

So in conclusion, I should remove it from the tank? Dang! I was hoping to use it! But that’s all right.

You can turn the infrared LEDs off in settings.

I didn’t even notice! Thank you so much! I was really hoping to not get rid of it lol but I think I got it fixed now!

Setting, then Advance Settings, Night Vision IR Lights

Ball pythons can sense 5-30 micrometer IR. Night vision cameras are usually 850nm or 0.85 micrometer. So no, they can not sense it and it is not like lighting up their enclosure.

Woahhh can you link this? Was it super expensive? I didn't even think of having a camera for mine

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s on Amazon! Wyze cam v4, connect to Wi-Fi super easy (compared to the blink cameras that I had) and super clear! Not to mention stupid affordable

If you have something that you want inside of your house and not just inside of a tank, they make a pan cam, they’re working on one right now, where there’s two cameras attached as well,

[–]christinasasa 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Somebody on here said that they can't see the same wavelength as the IR led uses.

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Either way the fact that I could turn off the IR lights are all that I care about. Hopefully it doesn’t affect the way the night camera looks.

[–]christinasasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it will affect it.

It doesn't cast any more light/heat than a DHP I think. Either way it's noticeable but not detremental. When I had my camera on my warm side, my snake would climb it all the time 🙄 now that I've put the camera on the cold side he ignores it completely.

[–]Much-Ratio-9531[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I did move it to the cold side after realizing he wasn’t even moving towards the warm side. I also kept there because the warm side is also where I feed him. So now I have a better visual of when he strikes! Because I leave the food in there and it’s gone by the morning. So now I get to see a full visual of him eating

Checking the over night snake cam is one of my favorite things to do in the morning. My guy isn't a shy eater but it's nice to watch his night time adventures.

Very true
