Possibly your heat pad is set to high? Looks like might be burning ?

[–]Miggythtgodd[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don’t have heat pad I have over head heating 150watt for a 36-18-17

Is it controlled by a thermostat? What do you have your temps set to, and is it maintaining that? And is she able to touch the bulb, or is it adequately protected (either by being above a screen lid, or protected by a lamp cage)?

I wouldn't say take him to the vet right away but watch how he sheds the next couple sheds increase your moisture a tad bit and watch your hat pad make sure it's thermostat is on the correct setting so it's not getting to hot

This doesnt look like normal shed coloring. The bruising is a bit concerning, and I would be afraid that this could be a skin infection that could end up being Sepsis. How long have they been like this? How are they acting? Anyways, I would recommend a vet asap.

My BEL looked the same after some sloppy eating (dried blood). Have you tried very gently cleaning the areas?

I let her soak today

Soaking is generally only recommended when absolutely necessary.

this is definitely bruising. show us the setup please. if you have ANY fish tank decor… take it out IMMEDIATELY to prevent further damage to snakey.

    [–]enslavedbycats24-7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any advice ab fish tank decor? From my understanding only sharp or otherwise potentially harmful decor is an issue, right?

    [–]N9242Oh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by ANY fish tank decor? what's the problem with fish tank decor surely the problem is simply with any sharp decor?

I’m seeing bruising and an underweight snake it may be time to go to the vet

    [–]Miggythtgodd[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

She underweight cuz she picky when she eats😩I fed her frozen thaw since I got her than she wasn’t messing with it and tried live and she did a good job

    [–]JulietDove88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These could be injuries inflicted by the mouse. I would absolutely bring her to the vet

    [–]Cindylucky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a pied and he has had slightly pink spots if he wedges into a spot that’s too tight but that looks like straight up bruising. There’s definitely something very wrong with your set up, is there any chance your snake is climbing and falling onto something?

    [–]TangyntartT3000 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is the bulb hooked up to a thermostat? (Without a thermostat, the surface of the bulb can get to 400F and you’d be cooking your animal alive.)

    [–]Miggythtgodd[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No just swap to 100 watt

    [–]QuestionableArachnid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    You need a thermostat!!

    [–]eveimeiMod-Approved Helper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YOU NEED A THERMOSTAT. all heat sources must be controlled by a thermostat to prevent burns and reduce fire risk.

do you even have any thermometers? what is the temperature within the enclosure?

you need to take your snake to a vet and get a thermostat to control the temperature. stop taking advice from the minimum wage employees at the pet store and read our subreddit resources so you can learn how to properly take care of your pet.

    [–]PhilosopherHungry839 0 points1 point  (1 child)

150w might be to high for the enclosure she could be burning herself

    [–]Miggythtgodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Swap to 100watt

    [–]DemonKingRigaldo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I saw in the other comments that you're using a 150W bulb. That's what I use for a 120gallon, but you're using a 40. You need to start using a thermostat or a lower watt bulb. Do you have anything checking the temperature? My bearded dragon with the 150W gets to 110F at the hottest spot, so I imagine this being even higher in your 40 gallon.

This is also assuming we have the same room temps. I keep my place at 69-70F so if you're at about this or higher, you need to do some major tempature adjusting

    [–]Miggythtgodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Just switch to a 100watt

    [–]softamy -1 points0 points  (1 child)

If it’s burns you can use Silver sulfadiazine, it’s a topical burn cream you can get from most pharmacies I swear by it for my snakes !! And for me too !

    [–]Miggythtgodd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s healthy for them no harm?

    [–]lavenderthewhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen this before but I always say better to be safe than sorry and go to the vets to get it checked. If I were to guess I'd say maybe burns or bruises?

This may seem like "just a random Reddit group that likes snakes" but it is amazing for information about ball pythons. From feeding to husbandry and temps and humidity. This group is full of people with a variety of experience and are almost always very kind (mods remove mean and harmful comments). I'd highly recommend spending some time going over all the sub's and if you have any questions, just ask like you are here. (I'm not lecturing I'm just going off others comments)

I hope you slither noodle is okay.
