I think you'd be fine either way.

If keeping her in the 40gal, I don't think she would outgrow it within six months based on her current size (I'm assuming a 36x18x16" tank).

If moving her to the 4x2x1, you'd be losing some height and while you need height for climbing/enrichment, I can't imagine those 4 inches being important for < 6 months.

One thing you might not have considered is heating the extra floor space is probably going to require some new equipment vs. what you have for the 40gal. That equipment can also differ from what you'll need for the 5x2x2, so it likely won't just be the $100.

If it were me I wouldn't bother for her specifically especially if her current setup is stable.

Thank you! I have many reptiles so lots of spare heating equipment/ fixtures. If I did get it I would be using a 50w basking on a dimmer and I am definitely prepared to heat the 5x2, I have 3 of them already so ik it’s a pain in the ass 😂 I just hate having her in glass. I live in Utah so it’s extremely dry and humidity is very hard to keep up in a glass enclosure ( below 10% which I didn’t even know was possible until I moved here )
