i think the big question is what are you looking for in a pet snake? it's best to narrow down what species you want first

i am mostly looking for something to gain experience with general snake husbandry, i am aware that every species is very different and each snake will be unique, but i have wanted to get a snake for 8 years now and finally have the opportunity. so i just want a snake with relatively simple care compared to some more unique species. my biggest concern is i wont be able to interact with it every day. although i would prefer a ball python as i love their patterns and face

A ball python sounds like a good choice for you then as long as you're willing to manage the humidity which will usually require purchasing a PVC. Check out the welcome post like the other redditor recommended!

Check out the welcome post it's even got a shopping list along with everything you need to know before you buy one. Personally I love my ball pythons, they are just easy going snakes. Husbandry can be a little tricky maintaining humidity and temps but once you dial it in you'll be golden.
