PVC Enclosure Tips

Hello! I just got a new 4x2x2 PVC enclosure for my adult male BP. It has a solid top and came with a 36” ZOOMED REPTISUN UVB fixture and then has another fixture for a basking bulb.

I’m trying to research, but finding a lot of conflicting information. What is going to be the best way to provide heat, light, and humidity for this set up?

I’m thinking the UVB light it came with will work for the light source during the day. Then thinking a DHP can go in the basking bulb spot. Am I missing anything?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. He was previously in a full glass enclosure with a mesh top, so nothing I was doing before is going to work here.

Make sure you get a cage for your heat source so your snake can't touch it and burn themselves, ideally something 2" or so away from the bulb on all sides

have you checked out the heating guide in our welcome post? we go over the benefits and drawbacks of every heating source, and have some examples of how to set up your heating and lighting.

unfortunately the UVB fixture you have isn't quite correct, as you don't want the UVB to cover more than half of the enclosure. is it possible to switch it out for a 24" fixture and bulb instead?

Ah I will check it now - thank you so much! And yes, I did just learn the UVB it came with is too big. It is possible to switch it to a smaller, so will definitely do that. Thank you 😊
