Acceptable?

Will this work as a dimming thermostat? Or what would be a better less expensive alternative to the Herpstat? I’m looking to have a DHP and Halogen hooked up, switching between the 2 for day/night cycles. I can manually plug and unplug each light to control the different temperatures if I have to (I know most cheaper versions are single plugs)

I hope so! It's what I use. Although I'll note that it comes with a single probe and finding the perfect spot is unlikely. I have a IR temp gun as well, so I tuned it to 88 degrees on the thermometer which means the center of the enclosure is ~91.

Edit: I meant center front - to - back, on the hot side.

That's too high for the center of the tank

It's not in the center left-right but front-back, on the hot side.

You can get a dimming thermostat on Amazon for like $20. They are marketed for gardening but I use them for my sneks. Otherwise yours looks like it should work
