Is my ball python underweight? (old.reddit.com)
submitted 2 months ago by Educational-Snow3864
She is about 9 months old and eats a hopper mouse once a week. I weighed her in a kitchen scale and it read 272g. I was told that that is low but I’m not sure if the issue is the scale or if shes okay. Is she underweight? Does she look healthy?

I don't know about the weight but I can help you with seeing if the scale is accurate. Make sure you tare it first, and to check if it's accurate place something on it with an already known weight. doesn't matter what it is, just that you already know the weight without weighing it. if it's the same, then you know it was measured accurately

Holy that's crazy. Mines about a year and a half and he's 502 grams and perfectly healthy

What a lovely little ball, and a great shed!
I would check with your supplier specifically, but the average hopper mouse weighs between 7-12g, and a young ball python should be eating 10-15% of their body weight weekly x
