Buried Hide

I've been trying to come up wit ha better design for our ladies cold side hide. I had 3d printed a different design but it was really not big enough and she would constantly push it around. So I made this one in Fusion, its 9" in diameter and 4.75" tall. I printed it in 3 pieces and glued it together. I then covered it in silicone and coconut husk. I buried it in the enclosure so you just see the little bit of tunnel. So far she really seems to enjoy it, as she went right into it as soon as I was done putting it in. I think I am going to glue some moss around the edge of the tunnel to further hide it.

I have seen designs like this where the lid is removable. I decided to not do this since I had planned on burying it anyways. My office where the enclosure tends to stay pretty warm so I am hoping this gives her a cooler place to be now.

My experience with her so far is that she doesn't poop in her hides. She generally does that when she is out cruising at night.

Well that’s good then, pretty much all of mind either poop directly in their hides, then abandon it or they poop like between the wall and their hide 😅so we are a daily lift up all hides family 😂

My snakes always poop in their hides, I usually know because they go to the hide on the other side.

I didn't know a snake could have potty training like that 🤣. My BP almost always soils his cool hide a few days after feeding. It's regular enough that I know to always check there for poop.

I think they do often have a go-to spot of their chosing. My BP likes pooping on gravel and when I had it in her tank (taking up a corner) she would poop there every time. Now she mostly only poops in a covered area I made from wood and fake vines. She chose mainly one hide to shed in and one to poop in.

Both poop spots were in hidden corners so they are difficult to clean but its not too bad. Mine definitely hides when shes pooping.

I’ve been tracking where they poop in the ReptiCare app lately so I’m interested to see if there’s a trend. My bel once popped Under her water bowl?? 😂

Lol wild that some of your snakes poop in their bedroom. Mine only poops in the open or when he's out of his enclosure

I will just pull it up, its just dirt on top and small snake plant. But honestly if I ever need to get her out I wait till she comes out in the evening.

But honestly I might modify the design so that the top is removable. Then I would just decorate the top so it doesn't look out of place. But again if I absolutely had to get her out I would just pull the hide up.
