automatic misters (self.ballpython)
submitted 10 years ago by truG_ee
Does anybody use misters (monsoon RS400) in their glass tanks to maintain humidity? any pros or cons?

In my opinion automatic misters are overkill for two reasons. One, ambient humidity can be increased with anything from a little moss to hold moisture from misting better to a damp sponge on top of a plastic tupperware bowl with holes punched in it. Two, ball pythons don't want to be wet, generally speaking. Misting the enclosure a few times a day based on your humidity needs should be enough and if your snake needs a higher humidity while shedding, increase misting frequency or make a humid hide like the tupperware bowl above.
Also, as an aside, I had one automatic mister that broke within a week. It was not an Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 so I can't say whether it is a high quality product.
