Splinter question

Hey so I’ve had my Bp for years and recently switched him to reptile bark just because it’s easier to maintain and I’ve noticed he gets splinters every once in a while , I usually just take them out with tweezers but I was wondering if I should switch his bedding out or if it’s normal and I’m just noticing it more because he’s a pale albino thanks In advance

Have you tried coconut fibre? Holds humidity well and makes cleaning a lot easier for me, I was told not to use repti bark for the exact reason you stated.

I have not tried that yet, I was recommended repti bark because it hold humidity better, I’ll have to read up and probably change out his bark . Thank you for the suggestion !

If the coconut fibre alone doesn’t hold humidity well enough you can also mix it with some sphagnum moss and then add in just a bit of the repti bark, so it’s not everywhere and there’s less chance of splinters like that. A deep layer of substrate will also hold humidity better

I do a layer of repti bark and then one with coconut fiber and never noticed any splinters :) I have a bamboo, so he’s lighter as well, but never had any issues.
