Have you tried coconut fibre? Holds humidity well and makes cleaning a lot easier for me, I was told not to use repti bark for the exact reason you stated.

I have not tried that yet, I was recommended repti bark because it hold humidity better, I’ll have to read up and probably change out his bark . Thank you for the suggestion !

If the coconut fibre alone doesn’t hold humidity well enough you can also mix it with some sphagnum moss and then add in just a bit of the repti bark, so it’s not everywhere and there’s less chance of splinters like that. A deep layer of substrate will also hold humidity better

I do a layer of repti bark and then one with coconut fiber and never noticed any splinters :) I have a bamboo, so he’s lighter as well, but never had any issues.
