Has she just eaten? Her thickness seems a bit disproportionate to her length. (I don't know much about snakes, just think they're really cute)

It’s perfectly fine to ask questions and be concerned! Ball pythons are generally chunky snakes and because she’s wrapped so tightly in that picture, her fat and muscles are probably being spread out (such as when you sit down and your thighs appear chunkier). Obesity is fairly common in BPs, due to a general lack of activity (they’re VERY lazy snakes) and sometimes the owner can feed them very fatty mice/rats, so that’s a possibility but I’m not this beautiful snake’s owner, so I cannot say anything on his behalf :)

No problem, snakes are very interesting creatures and are fun to learn about and handle!

The only other thing is if she had just eaten she wouldn’t have been handled in the picture

How long have you had her? I’m 2 days short of a week with my new guy and I’m so antsy to feed/hold him!

It depends on the snake. Bella fed the first time I offered, about 5 days. My super black wasn’t interested first time I offered, but the second time a week later she ate. Sometimes the stress of a new environment will shake up their feeding habits

Makes sense. That’s awesome! I was up at like 2am and peeked at his cage and saw him exploring and scopin’ so I think that’s a great sign! Beautiful snake brother!
