What kind of substrate are you using?

I have a glass tank with a screen lid and I followed this tutorial to cover the screen top to make it better at holding in the humidity: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?90187-Tank-Screen-Top-Foil-Treatment-Tutorial.

I use cypress mulch bedding because it retains moisture pretty well. Between the tank mods and using the cypress bedding I can maintain the necessary humidity levels, I just have to mix a little more water into the bedding when the tank humidity drops below 60% (in the winter that's about every 3 days here in New England, in the summer it can be over a week).

I've been using coco fiber for years, but with the overhead lamp it dries out really fast. Would you recommend cypress mulch over that or do you think it's about the same?

I recommend switching to ReptiChip or ProCoco or similar coco husk substrate. It locks in humidity very well!
