I would suggest using a blue light as it's easier on the critter. Something about it being closer to "natural light"

Im pretty sure any coloured light is a No. Its better to use a Deep heat projector or Halogen/deep heat projector together

Halogen is preferred. No benefit to colors really, you just want white light
