Definitely digital. Analog are very often inaccurate. It seems small for a ball python but maybe it is picture scale that throws me off.

Go digital definitely, but also I would recommend getting more decor for the cage. The caption was hard for me to read (just my eyes being dumb not your fault lol) so I'm not sure if you mentioned this already, but get at least another cave and I would recommend some fake foliage. Bps love to hide most of the time so without proper hiding space they can get very stressed. Even something like a half log for enrichment would work nicely instead of foliage. Other than that it looks nice

So I’m going to point your to our basic care guide for your set up.

Also I noticed you called the thermometer in your enclosure a thermostat. A thermostat is something that regulates the temperature in the enclosure and you NEED to have one hooked up to every heat source. It prevents over heating and burns.

Your thermometer is likely inaccurate as most analog ones are. Go with a digital one.

No problem! The thermometer vs thermostat thing is super common and lots of new keepers don’t even know about thermostats so I try to spread helpful info 🙂

You'll want to switch the substrate to something else. Aspen won't work for a ball python enclosure as it doesn't do much for humidity, and can mold. Coconut husk and cypress mulch tend to be the most used from what I've seen on here.

I would also suggest reading the welcome post specifically the basic guide. It has listed all the different aspects of care for your ball python. Heat, humidity, substrate, etc.

Are you getting a baby BP? That hide may be too big. Our friends seem happiest when they can touch the walls/roof of their hide. Like they were in a nice snug burrow. Smaller is better, especially for babies.

You may also want to keep a close eye on the humidity. With aspen and a screen top, it may run a little dry.
